It has been quite a while since I have last posted, but I thought the verbal commitment with Euclid was worth the time for everyone to get to know a little bit more about him, as I have.
I am not a paid high school football coach at Centennial, although I assist their defensive linemen at times, and also have coached their middle school teams for eight years now. Having played high school football and then college at Tech, plus having coached at the youth, middle school, and high school level for more than fifteen years, I have seen alot of footbal players. All sizes, speeds, intelligence levels, etc. I have seen them all. This kid has incredible upside, not compared to but a few I have seen.
I have stayed completely away from Euclid as it pertained to Tech through his entire recruitment by Tech and other schools. He has approached me a few times and I have resisted talking to him about Tech for obvious reasons. I have had zero influnce upon Euclid's verbal to Tech because I have refused to talk to him about it.
Euclid has had several people pressuring him to go to other SEC schools, that he showed alot of interest in. In the end though, these individuals did not get in the way of Euclid's choice of chossing Tech.
Now why I am excited about him at Tech. Having helped coach him over the last couple of years, I have watched this kid improve exponentially. He has played football for a total of two years now and is just beginning to grasp the fundamentals of the game. He possesses incredible athletic skills and I believe he has benn timed in the 4.5s. His motor is non stop and will pursue the ball to every end of the field.
There are some that believe Euclid will not be an impact player at the college level, and I understand why they believe so. I can not disagree with these individuals more though. A player with the atheltic skills and the desire he has, in addition to all of the other upside attributes he possesses, in my opinion wiil produce difference maker for us in a few years.
I think Euclid is a likely redshirt this year as it will only be his third year of football. His fourth year of football (redshirt sophomore) year , in my opinion, will be a big year for him. By his junior year I believe we will be watching an absolutely dominate defensive end.
He is a great kid that is a coachable and pleasant to be around, and will do a great job representing Tech the right way.
