Found this highlight video from Dontae Aycock's senior season on that other messageboard. I have not seen it over here so thought I would post it.

I don't understand why more schools aren't looking at this kid as a QB. His arm looks pretty good to me.

Excellent, I hope we get him. Not only does he run the option, but he is a big guy that can really run. Very impressive.

He throws on tippy toes. He must have a strong arm to be able to throw it that way.

great find!

he looks like a more compact and more elusive version of Vince Young with speed and the ability to break tackles as well as go deep

the passing needs some work on technique; footwork, arm movement and release - but he is certainly a competitor

Dontae has been hard to get in touch with for coaches I believe.

He lives with someone other than his parents...his brother (Dwight Smith of the Lions) guides him through a lot of decisions. It is a real non-traditional set-up. Plus...GT has really been "the one" all along. I am not sure he opened up or returned inquiries from a lot of schools.

That being said...I am sure a strong push from UF would have gotten his attention....but he really zero'd in on GT back in the spring.

Do not be confused though...Dontae is a first-class kid that gets it done on and off the field....good student, etc.

He has the talent to contribute at QB immediately.

He is 5-10, that should have played a big part. NEsbitt and Bryce are 6-1 and Jaybo is 6-0.

The kid sure looks like a "contact is no problem" type of runner, which fits CPJ's offense well.

He seems to have nice touch on his passes and I'd wager that with the right coaching, he'll develop much better velocity for his long game.

Very impressive & thanks!

He's got an excellent spin move to make the first guy miss. That means a ton in the option, where you only have to beat one guy at the LOS.

Dontae measured 5-11 and 215 at a recent measuring.

Josh Nesbitt measured 6-0, 205 as a high school senior. Dwyer measured 6-0, 200 as a senior in high school....205 at one measuring.

Yeah the weight part isn't as big a deal. Condition will change that big time. I think the height thing is the only part that would matter but as hiver pointed out there isn't that big a difference between him and Nesbitt.

...and Aycock is a giant compared to Joe Hamilton....who I looked in the eye to. I am 5'8".

Honestly, he looks a lot like Josh Nesbitt to me, except maybe he runs a bit tougher. His added appearance of bulk does make him resemble Vince Young, but he's 6" taller and 40 pounds heavier than DA.

Funny.

I think David Sims video looks identical to Nesbitt in the way he runs...carries his pads..etc. Hope he turns out to be a more accurate passer. Time will tell on reads.

Dontae looks more elusive than either...more like a Joe Hamilton as a runner...but much bigger. I think Dontae would be a true feature RB for anybody. Same comments as above on QB skills...hope he is accurate..we will see on the reads.

Dontae is probably the best all-around athlete in this recruiting class for us.

When we have a QB that runs the 3-O with as much fluid motion as Dontae runs it in HS we will be tough to beat. That is a sick highlight tape!

Aycock definitely seems larger than Joe, but there is something about the way Aycock moves in the pocket and especially the way that he throws the ball that reminds me of Hamilton.

Height.

He's still bigger than Joe. Joe was listed at 5'10" but more like 5'7". Dude was tiny.

I see some flexbone in there. Nice.

He throws the deep ball very similar to Joe Ham but that's about it. He's bigger.

I only watched about 1/3 of the video but all the passes were homerun tosses. I guess it was a highlight video, wasn't it. Would like to see some intermediate throws. He seems to be an adequate passer and certainly no worse than our current QB's.

Sims has some CRAZY statistics:

"Sims is in the group of finalists after passing for 2,000-plus yards, rushing for 1,400 yards and accounting for 63 touchdowns."
