Saban v. Jimbo

So, will Alabama leave the SEC and join the ACC over Saban’s concerns? Kind of reminds me of when GT left the SEC because of Dodd’s concerns about Alabama playing dirty.

Jimbo is a complete dick. Saban isn’t much better but calling TAMU and Fisher out in public was a massive mistake by Saban.

Is hilarious that all of these coaches pretend like they aren't doing what they are. "We never bought anybody" -Jimbo "We didn't buy one player" -Saban "Travis ain't chasing a dollar" -Sanders

And Saban wants the federal government to step and fix this? Lol, he sounds desperate.

A&M has been buying recruiting classes since the Junction Boys days - they were on probation back then.

This is fantastic. The cheating master vs his apprentice. Whether Saban likes it or not, he is the godfather of the win at all costs model highlighted by processing players, shady degrees in nothing, academic protection for athletes, facilities arms race, bloated coaches salaries, and seemingly unlimited budget for whatever he needs. Kirby took notes and doing his best to replicate but A&M is ramping it up to a different level.

It would be so refreshing if there were any school presidents left with integrity to stop this, but they’re too busy selling over priced tuition and short changing tax paying families of their states.

Yeah….maybe I’m a little bitter about all this. They’re destroying the game we love.

Ole Jimbo....The best 9-3/8-4 coach without Jameis Winston, there is.....He really believes people think they didn't pay for their class via NIL.....lol

When GT won the National Championship in 1990, the people with money could never let that happen again.

NCAA is too small for two West Virginians!

They must be from two rival West Virginia families.

Saban also singled out Prime Time, he didn't hold back:

“I don’t even wear a watch and I know what time it is. They forget I know who’s been bringing the bag and dropping it off,” Sanders said. “I know this stuff. I’m not the one you want to play with when it comes to all of this stuff.”

The player performance technology is crazy since 1990 and Bama is top shelf. Its not just the NIL, social media and facilities, its about a higher level analysis and tech of player metrics, kinesiology, perception, psychology, nutrition and development planning. Bama has a QB in development, evaluated with a perception/reaction diagnostic that wildly surpasses Brady (we will see how that works out). Wake Forest pitching lab melds their medical institution into sports. MiLB and MLB benchmark college baseball player development facilities into their development planning.
We are GT. Are we following or leading in this technology charge? Hopefully the new Edge Center / SAPC planning is just that.

Back on thread- eat a root Aggies.
Buying talent is an SEC tradition.

Agree. College presidents sold out when the feds started giving out student loans. The Colleges just jacked tuition and bloated their administrative welfare system. Modern academia is not a meritocracy and modern academic administration is a bloated bureaucracy of which Georgia Tech is unfortunately a stellar example.
I wish the Hill would embrace GT sports more.

I wonder if the posters on this board think there are any successful football teams that don't cheat? And if they'd think that GT cheats if we were successful?

I don't think Jimbo was saying nobody got money; he said no rules were broken, and was careful in how he characterized that. He's a sleazy dude though, acting like some sort of victim. Same with Saban. It's a dangerous game they are both playing as neither wants the curtain pulled back completely.

Saban is just mad The rules have changed and he and Kirby is no longer the only ones able to pay players.

No there are no successful clean programs. The premise of the second question is not realistic.
