I have been considering moving my seats from sec. 224 over to a non-Tech Fund area, or maybe a lower Fund area like upper 223 or upper 206 --sec. 222 though looks like a possibility.

I've purchased a cabin since last season, bought a new truck, and my daughter will be entering GT in Fall 2010, so I feel the need to tighten my budget --particularly with the economy the way it is, as this move alone saves me over $1,000.

So, couple of questions:

Does anybody have seats, or has anybody sat in 222?

Those of you who have switched seats to a lower cost area for whatever reason --are you happy with the switch or would you prefer to switch back?

I don't know about 222, but I sit in 206. You get some shade and the city view is better. You're a little farther away from the field than on the east side, but the view still good. My seats are pretty close to the pressbox, so I'm getting the 'TV' view anyway.

People are pretty quite most of the time. Its mostly a third down type crowd. It is a good section if you plan on bringing kids. But don't expect to have much support if you yell the entire game (like I usually do).

There is also some guy who yells "stingger" and holds up his pinky throughout the game.

That must have been where I sat for the Miami game, because there was a guy who kept doing that. Any idea why he does it?

I just bought season tickets in 222, but I haven't sat there before. It seemed to be to be the best option for no Tech fund.

The second level on the east side isn't too high, and I'm hoping being up a section allows you to see the south endzone somewhat.

I sat in 222 in 06 and 07. Good seats but always a good number of visiting fans in the section during a big game.

I sit in 222 and have since 03. I like it because there seem to be a lot of young alums. The crowd is pretty lively up there usually. I have noticed a fair number of away fans for some big games, but I think that probably happens in all the upper level seats. I personally like having some of those guys around to talk trash with when the game gets good. Miami this year comes to mind. Those rats were jumping ship early as I recall. It's a pretty good view of the field, some of the best non-TECH fund seats you can get IMO. You're much lower than on the upper west side. I've seen some claim a better angle on the field from being higher up, but my angle seems just fine and I like being closer to the action.

If you don't like sitting in the sun all game, sections 101 and 111 are ok as long as you specify the rows 30 or higher. I'm not a big fan of the first 10 rows of the lower west stands; but the higher rows allow you to see the whole field.

Your pinky does? How did it originate?
my pinky has won us AT LEAST three games through its stinging powers.

the pinky stinger originated off a deviation of the spocker(2 in the pink, 2 in the stink) which is a deviation of the shocker(2 in the pink, one in the stink).

it has been evolving over the last 6 to 7 years and i've found the women love it.

If that is you, you rule. You've stuck with it, alone, for at least 3 years, and now you have about 10 people folling your lead now.
who are these ten follerers? i've got patent/copywright rights to my pinky finger stinger and do not appreciate imitations of my stylie moves.

My wife and I are in 222. We like it alright and will stay there until we get a little extra money to make a donation and move closer to the center of the Upper East. There are several big groups and rowdy folks.

Only downside is that there will be some non-regulars here and there that aren't fond of loud noises and people that stand. (Note: I've only had one such incident since I've been sitting there. I simply told them I wasn't sitting down and that was the end of it. They weren't happy, but ****'em.)

There are a good bit of visiting fans there for Georgia, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Florida State games.

Pro-tip: Wear sun-screen.

Not the best section in the stadium, but if you're looking to save a bit of money without sacrificing the view and atmosphere, I'd recommend 222.

i was just fuggin around...mixed with drunk posting. not a good combo.

i have no idea who this guy is and would definitely be the person doing my best imitation in a mocking way at the game.

Wanted to come back to this post and thank you guys for your input. I did go through with the decision to move my seats. I selected a few areas to keep my eye on and waited until the renewal deadline passed to see if better seats opened up --which they did.

This year I'll be in Sec. 222, Row 4 --which I'm pretty pleased with ..moving two sections due north but a few rows lower. Look forward to seeing WindyCityJacket, WhiskeyClear02 and Jacket in 2009 in my new home @BDS.

Count me in as another person you guys talked into the 222 section. Row 8.

i ended up in 222 most of the home games last year, i had to pick up spare tickets all season for friends and family and so instead of sittin in the away section at the top of the north endzone we just squatted in triple deuce it but it wasnt ever over crowded which is cool.. the view wasnt bad but im glad i snuck down to 122 for the fsu game to get a better perspective on that fumble... im sorry.. THE fumble

I decided to switch from first row in 207, to second row in 222 this year. The seats are actually 15 yards closer to the field, and a lot lower. The bottom of the upper east is about as high as the top of the lower west, or press box level.

222 was a main student section when I was at Tech, so I know I will feel comfy in the good old UE.

Anyone know how many seats there are in the rows?

With the new scoreboard I favor seats at the north end to their counterparts at the south end. Also, you're closer to the band, the largest contingent of students (= more energy) and situated at the team entrance.

I've never really thought that 50 yard line seats were that much better for football....for the biggest moments in any given game, you're almost guaranteed to have only an average view. If you're on the goalline it's a coin flip, you either strain your neck or you have the absolute best seat in the house.
