Duke 72 57 .558
Wake Forest 76 65 .539

To me, the previous seasons win-loss percentage isn't a good measure of SoS. Home/Away is big, order of play is big, and that whole thing about 11 straight games without a break week counts for something as well.

Dumb post.... Since your so bored, how bout doing this analysis for all FBS schools. That should keep you busy for a while.

This shows me that NC State, UNC, and Duke all scheduled some serious cream-puffage, despite their winning pct. numbers.

If we played us, our schedule would look tougher too.

Actually, since our record is two games better than Clemson's and the record of their opponents is two games better than ours AND our record is a half game better than BCs and their oppoenents' records are 1/2 game better than ours, the 3 schools opponents' records are precisely equal when you throw out each other. I guess that saps the dramatic effect of the post a bit.

Further, 2 games of Miami's 4.5 game edge is due to the same thing. Miami also plays Florida A&M, who was 9-3. Do we have a patsy that good?

EDIT: Scratch that last. Jax St was 8-3

GT is hurt by the fact that it's playing two mediocre SEC schools next year. NC State and others are helped a lot in this statistic by

1. Playing schools from FBS conferences, who in turn have "better" overall records from in-conference games in their craptastic conference.
2. Playing multiple FCS schools, increasing the effect of other ACC opponents on opponents' W-L percentage.

In other words, Kyle, this statistic is complete and utter BS. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

I bet we'd think the stat was more meaningful if Tech was near the top of it.

:)

I personally don't trust statistics at all. The closest football stat I'd just is passing completion percentage for a QB, that's about it.

Ok, so I was bored, and did my own ranking... I have us as 4th most difficult in the ACC.
I gave each game a simple grading on a 10 point scale.

Getting this to paste in took longer than the "analysis"...:
(and now after I took all that time, it still didn't line it up right)

:laugher: My post was toung-in-cheek seeing as how it is improbable we'll ever schedule ourselves; but I do believe you seriously out thought yourself with this one. Replace 4-8 Duke on our schedule with 9-4 GT and figure out how much we move up on this meaningless scale. I think playing us could put us in a tie for third.
