beej would have canceled the 2006 ND game

Is there anyone over thirty who agrees with kyle?

Check the current schedule. I'd be feeling a lot better if we had some FBS teams slightly easier than bye in the miss st and Vandy slots.

We are not a deep team. We may never be. Getting a key player like Nesbitt or Dwyer etc injured playing late in a close but meaningless tough game against Vandy or even possibly miss state could cost us the ACC or a UGA victory.

Last year we rose up to a BCS ranking of 13 from being completely unranked pre-season. That was with 3 losses and two wins over FCS schools. Screw SOS. Schedule pansies, get rid of the 3 losses, and take the shortest route to the MNC. If we hadn't had those three losses, we'd have made it to the ACCCG and most likely the MNC - even with the two FCS games.

Beej's right. The bottom line is, if you want to go to the championship, the best way is to go undefeated, and the best way to go undefeated is to play push-overs when playing out of conference.

When any team loses 1 game, that puts them behind the 1 loss SEC teams, Big 12 teams and USC because those conferences/teams are media hyped to be the best. So scheduling UGA, USC and Texas would certainly make the season interesting, but it would get you no closer to a national championship.

The ACC is a good conference and will get its national respect back soon enough. We don't need any harder competition than the conference games we've got + ugay.

Well put. With uga on our schedule, that is already 1 out of conference game that is against a tough, nationally recognized opponent. We need zero more. I'd rather not have 2 FCS schools though.

I think it was last spotted in Gainesville, looking out in the direction of Austin and laughing.

OU got in the championship game because of stupid big 12 rules, not because of the BCS.

FAIL.

No Kyle, the reason Ou got to play the Big 12 championship game was because they were higher ranked in the BCS. Yes the Big 12 rules were screwy, but OU was still the higher ranked school.

So who cares? There was a three way tie. ONE TEAM HAD TO BE RANKED AHEAD OF ANOTHER THAT IT LOST TO. That is not the BCS's fault.

Big 12 should have had a provision that said if the two teams were within 5 BCS spots the head to head winner should go to the championship like the ACC and SEC have in their rules.

I guess I am the only one that would like to see us play Florida or USCw or Ohio State or Texas.

I see a lot of opportunity there
1. Visibility
2. $$ (Sold out game)
3. Respect, especially if it is close or you win
4. Entertaining

Sorry, miss state is NOT an exciting opponent. Do you guys even watch the games or do you just look at the score after the game?

I guess you guys all agree with beej that the 2006 ND game should have been canceled.

I have David Hasselhoff.

haha...i will bring a bottle of booze and a hamburger...he physically cannot resist that!

At a certain point, like immediately after it started, a thread needs to be trashed for the sake of the board as a whole. This is a prime example.

I have a trident.
Yeah Rod,
I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You may want to find a safe house and lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder.

I say no guns. Knives, tridents, or a block of wood of any dimension. If Oldfoggy jumps in, he will wear a non-contact jersey. If you breath on him, he breaks his hip, so it is the only fair way.

Of course the goal is a MNC, but not at the expense of entertainment.

Kyle, you really need to be more social.

The entertainment of football begins at 8 a.m. the day of the game and often the night before when you begin socializing with your friends, cooking and eating. It is called tailgating.

The entertainment continues when we trounce someone on the field. The entertainment ends when we lose by less than a field goal three times because we had to play three big "entertaining games."

If you think that beating the hell out of patsies is not entertainment then may I suggest an evening at WETbar to cool your love which shall not speak its name? And no, I'm not asking you out.

I would like us to play, OOC:
1: U[sic]GA
2: a bottom feeder in the Big Least or Special Ed Conference
3: continue old rivalries (Tulane, Vandy, Bama) or schedule interesting OOC opponents from other regions that we should beat: Indiana; Syracuse; Baylor; SMU; Purdue;
4: the blind sisters of the poor

Preferably, I'd replace #3 with a 9th ACC game.

BEEP, BEEP Backing in here. Watch your junk.

I'd rather us go the heavy competition route. Schedule OOC with the biggest, baddest boys we can find and study to kick them right in the butt, fair and square.

This issue is pretty much one of personal preference. I'm having a hard time seeing right vs wrong. I just want to play the best. No pussy games. No quarter. A war every week. MNC every week and to hell with the freaking pups. I don't play a whole schedule (ridicule opportunity provided for dingus) just to get at UGAy. They get their drumming at the end of the year.

The old SEC rivalries suit. UT, Awbun, Bammer but why not approach the big names like SoCal, OSU, Meechagan, Okielahoma, Texas, etal., and challenge them to a scrub?

I want to be Cock of the Walk! Not the one that got away.

I understand what Kyle is saying, and I'd love to have some big time opponents in Atlanta, but you can't make your schedule too brutal or you're effectively shooting yourself in the foot. I don't want to see absolute cupcakes, but I think our current OoC schedule is about right...maybe swap out Jax St. for a D-1A team, but I think our current schedule has enough teeth to matter if we go undefeated. The problem with making the schedule too easy is that you won't have proven anything to anyone. This is especially true nowadays when the ACC really has no powerhouses.
