Post your most memorable GT plays

JD 66 yd touchdown the first play to start the third quarter to start the comback against the dawgs

Gary Lee to beat the mutts in 1985. Drew Hill racing down the southwest sideline, and getting thrown under the fence by Ross Browner, to beat the Domers in 1976. Bubba Hoats' last minute INT in the EZ to preserve a 6-0 V over UGAG in 1969. CJ's catch at DV in 2004 to beat Clemson. Dez White's last minute catch and run to beat UVA in 1998.

Gary Lee in 1985
CJ in 2004 vs Clemson
1990 FG for win versus Virginia -- was sitting with my roommates (who were Virginia fans) -- cannot imagine how loud that room was with my cheers and their groans

"Dez White! Dez White! Dez White does it again!"

1998 GT 41 UVA 38

Loudest I've heard BDS.

For me, it was the catch that CJ made in Death Valley. You could hear the entire dorm erupt when that catch was made. I still keep the clipping from the Technique about that game up in my cube at work. The looks on the faces of the Clemson fans was priceless.

I wish I could remember the name of the player . . . in the 1989 game vs. UGA at Grant Field, a huge Tech DL picked up a fumble and lumbered back for a TD.

Georgia scored a late TD and 2-point conversion, and every Tech person there was chanting "So what! So what!".

Tech won 33-22. I have always considered that game to be the true start of the 1990 championship season.

Dennis Davis INT in 2005 Vs #3 Miami.

Under 2 minutes to go, we're up 4, but Miami has the ball and looks like they're about to score and take the lead. Kyle Wright tries going deep to Greg Olsen, but Dennis Davis reads it and beats Olsen to the ball. Miami is still trying to recover from that loss.

Gary Lee.

How about the one ,iirc, against Carolina in '90 when Shawn Jones scrambled in from 30 yds out to tie the game? I may be losing it on that one (it's early) but I know it was Shawn Jones against somebody and he pulled our fat out of the fire on like a fourth down TD ramble.

(as an aside, the "BALL IS LOOSE" play was pretty good in more recent memory. I actually listened to that one on the radio. averted a minor tragedy with that play. whew!)

I remember the play you're talking about. He ran up the middle and cut left heading toward the South endzone. However, it was either '89 or '91. "90 was a tie at chapel hill.

I tell you the prettiest drive I ever saw was the first drive against FSU in '98. Too bad lil Joe was trippled that game. But as far as most memorable plays I would only select plays that significantly affected the outcome of the game good or bad. "The Fumble" against UGAg has to be the one that leaves the most bitter taste in my mouth. I would say the first "The Catch" against Clemson was the most memorable play for me from a positive point though, since it was just out there. My heart stopped for a second for that one. CJ's entire first game against Clemson was memorable and had to be the craziest game ever. That blocked punt would be on my short list, but I did not really watch GT football before '97 so take that as you will.

I'm glad I'm not the only person believes that we are singularly responsible for Miami's current downfall. Maybe we don't give Gailey enough credit because he never beat the mutts, but he did manage to emasculate the U. I don't know if that one play was the defining play in that game though. That entire game felt like Tech was on the verge of losing it's grip, and somehow we made just enough plays to win. That was one of our more nerve racking wins. I had enough problems with the curriculum giving me ulcers, I don't know God decided to give me a football that does as well.

Daryl Smith's interception returned for a TD in the cess pool was a thang of everlasting beauty!

Seconded.

It is my favorite because it haunts many UGA fans nightmares. One UGA fan posted that in his nightmare Smith is still running up the sideline.

Sorry, but this trumps all others as UGA was about to score, certain they were going to score, just before the half and the interception return for a TD took the wind from the sails.

For me, as a young Tech student who has only been a diehard fan for the last 3-4 years (unfortunately, I was a UGA fan before I came here, saw the light, and realized how stupid I had been), Cooper Taylor's forced fumble in the FSU game this year was the most blissful, intense moment of football in my entire life. From that point and for the next hour or so after that, I was more incredibly overjoyed than I have ever been. Running out onto that field and hugging Darryl Richard is a moment I will never forget for the rest of my life.

It was great. I ran around section 104 for about 15 minutes high 5-ing everybody while screaming "holy ****" and "we will rock you" at the top of my lungs. Man....that was a great day to be a Jacket!

I absolutely believe we are the reason Miami's demise. I love it.

You're right that play didn't define the game. The game was defined by all the pressure put on Wright. I loved when Robo sacked Wright and nearly ripped his head off. But it was the Dennis Davis INT was the play where the realization set in we were about to beat the mighty U.

I was in the OB for that game. Super tense but ultimately super rewarding. Probably my favorite game that I was actual at yet.

Yeah that will probably sit as my best football experience for a good while. Will never forget that one FSU possession after Nesbitt got hurt and we pinned em at the 5. Never heard the student section get so loud and then we forced the time out (at least I like to think we did). Then I looked it up later on ESPN and they got a great shot of the swarm (both literal swarm and damn it if it didn't look like a swarm of human) right behind Ponder standing in the endzone, brings a grin to my face :D
