who has the best backfield in the nation?

Its hard not to pick us because we are so loaded. Really the only other team I can think of is so cal.
 
well. our backfield is really only jonathon dwyer. Anthony Allen and Roddy Jones are both a-backs and they don't line up in the backfield. Richard Watson is unproven so...we're not that deep:hsugh:
 
You can make a case that Georgia Tech is in the top 10 in this category. I think if Nesbitt were a bit more solid we would be knocking on the door to be considered the best in the land.

If the Anthony Allen talk is true, we may very well have an Auburn circa 2003 type situation.

Convince the guys to share carries and they'll both be 1st round NFL picks anyways :)

Good thing we essentially have 3 tailbacks on every play... plus the QB. Looks like they've HAVE to share carries.

Um, the A-backs are definitely "in the backfield." They aren't ends.

Or Auburn 1983, with Lionel Little Train James and Bo Big Train Jackson? (I don't remember the FB on that team, but think hew was pretty good too.)

Anyway, Allen rushed for 200+ against a solid Miami defense didn't he? I remember him being extremely impressive. Dwyer and Roddy are awesome, but I am really impressed with Cox also. Add in Wright and Peeples and the young redshirt freshman and I think we're pretty solid. (Wright/Peeples are not necessarily the best backs for USC but are good for A backs for us.)

I think Andrews was earlier, blocking for Cribbs.
 
Tommy Agee was in there too sometime...anyways it would be nice if we could put together some backfields consistently like Auburn has done over the years

i'm pretty sure to be in the backfield you have to be behind the linemen. they motion into the backfield but they're closer to being a tight end or a slot receiver where they line up.

Can we stipulate that the intent of the comment was to identify "who has the best players that potentially could become ball carriers, depending upon the play called"?

to do that we would have to find a way to admit semi-literate high school seniors with 850 on the SAT's.

And I am pretty sure you are the only one on this board or among ESPN analysts or bloggers who doesn't consider our A-backs part of the "backfield". A hint is in the name of the position.

Technically anyone who plays behind the LOS (not the linemen) is part of the backfield, especially when they are regular ball carriers.
