ugag recruit shatters florida's MNC trophy

Well he won't have that problem at Georgia!

*rimshot*

Actually it isn't the "MNC" any more, is it? That's from when only polls determined NCs. Now it's supposedly a "real' national championship, determined by an actual game.

The NCAA doesn't certify it like, say, every sport in every division except for FBS Football. As far as the NCAA is concerned, the BCS "National Championship Game" is merely a post-season exhibition game.

Why would you leave a $35,000 item in a place where it can be accidently bumped and destroyed? I guess they don't like trophy cases.

Nice work beej. :laugher:

Wow, that must of been a REALLY silent room for the next 20 min....

I think he must have tried to pick it up. I don't buy the "just knocked over" the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY!

that is like "accidentally" keying a car

Nope. It is still one game determined by a popularity poll that may or may not influence the other popularity polls.

And you can still have a national champion split between the two polls. The winner of the BCS Title Game doesn't actually get anything for that...but the voters for the Coach's poll are contractually obligated to vote the winner of that game #1.

The UGA championship trophy is actually not displayed in the Butts-Mehre building --rather, each member of the team has had the opportunity to keep it for one year.

The trophy was lost a few years ago by one of the Herschel's, but thus far UGAAA administrators have been unable to track the correct Herschel down.

I think I remember this same thing happened at Clemson recently, and they said it's insured. It would still suck not having the original though.
