I am planning on coming to the spring game. My wife wants to come as well with our children. This being my first spring game, I am concerned about my 3 year old girl being bored there--as I really want to stay for the whole thing. So I am wondering what distractors will be there for her to keep her occupied?

Will there be cheerleaders for her to imitate there? How about concessions? I can usually bribe her at games with some icecream or candy to stay 1 or 2 extra quarters -- so I am hoping to do so again.

last year there were concession but they sold out by the half. Hopefully won't happen this year. I don't remember about cheerleaders, I'm pretty sure they are there since its was treated as a game atmosphere.

Actually, my 3yo, at least last year, was scared of Buzz. It is funny how kids that age are scared of those big stuffed costumes.

My son (9) and daughter (7) have been going to GT football games since they were 5 weeks and 8 weeks old respectively. Neither have ever asked or needed to leave early as that is all they know. When they were younger we packed lots of snacks as well as a notebook and pen to shake things up for them. That was usually good enough.

The key was...as soon as they were able to understand what I was saying (2)...I had them in my lap at all sporting events and would explain to them what happened on every play. Between plays I would help them memorize jersey numbers...lots of benefits of that exercise.

My daughter likes to see some of the cheerleading also...but only when play is not going on. She watches the game and gets into it. Its quite funny, at the local rec center where she plays soccer she will whisper to me when seeing some of the cheerleaders her age and say "Dad...that is not a real sport...they are not getting enough exercise and they do not keep score!". She still does the girly girl stuff (jazz dance, ballet, etc.)...but also plays soccer, softball, and basketball with intensity.

In my opinion the problem begins when a child thinks you have something you do that does not involve them as an integral part of the experience. Today...they do not even want bathroom breaks while play is going on!

Bring your own snacks just in case there are lines or other concessions issues. I was finally able to get hot-dogs and m&ms last year, but it was about a 20 minute wait. Don't forget the hat, shades, and sunscreen too. It can be pretty bright at midday in April with no shade.

I highly recommend the spring game for a 3 year old though. I much prefer the spring game to a real fall football game for that age. It's laid back, and a family friendly atmoshphere.

Hive,

We have been going to the football games since she was 1, and love them. We usually (90%) of time stay until the whistle blows at end of game. I was not talking about the regular season games. I was purely asking about the spring game.

The band will be there for your entertainment between plays, as well as buzz and the cheerleaders. I'd estimate we'll have about 150 band members turn up.

Very cool. thanks. I just was trying to decide what to bring to keep her interested enough. Sounds like enough will be there that I do not need to bring anything from home. Thanks all.
