Somehow UNC fans manage to be complete assholes without being obnoxious or loud. Although I have to say, at least at the football game last year, it wasn't really the students who got on my nerves...it was the middle aged adults. Maybe it is the pretentiousness.

+1....I sat 5 rows up on the 45 yard line behind the GT bench at the game last year and I had so many of those middle aged people talking sh*t to me as we headed for the exits down 21 in the 4th quarter.

A theory if you will. The students who go to UNC football games are only the students who are college football fans and they probably realized what happened in that game while the middle-aged ones are the crazy alum who love all things light-blue and are high off of their basketball team (hence the arrogance).

Yes but typically it stays in the same sport. With UNC the basketball pride is probably making them think their football is just as good.

If we're arrogant about football it's because we think our 'football' is great and all powerful! :D

A counter-theory: the students who go to UNC football games really don't give a damn about UNC football. I mean, they like it because it's UNC, but to say North Carolina is a basketball school is an understatement.

Yeah that was what I was meaning to say about the students who actually were at the game. Didn't come out quite that way as usual.
