How well did we get the offense last year?

Lsu showed the nation how to beat us:

1. Make GT drop an easy TD catch.

2. Sucessfully onside kick.

3. Successfully fake punt.

4. Have GT botch a punt return.

5. Have GT screw up a fake punt.

6. Sucessfully fake punt again.

The Lsu Game = MURPHY'S LAW

To suggest otherwise is asinine.

To me that just sounds like our team was just completely and utterly unprepared for Les and company. Calling that Murphy's law seem too lame of an excuse.

It was Chanesque, that's for sure.

*ducks*

Well after speaking with some of the coaches, I'll go with Murphy's Law.

The reason why I say using Murphy's law is a lame excuse is because it says that there was nothing that could have been done before or during the game to prevent how we lost the game. It also says that there's nothing that our team could've learned from the game to improve in the future because it was just Murphy's law that made us lose.

Murphy's law also discredits LSU's preparation, gameplan, decisions, and execution. As much as I hate to see our team lose, I won't be a sore loser and try to take anything away from another team's victory over us... (except for our 'loss' against VPI cause of the dumb ref).

Why can't the answer be simple:
LSU found a QB. Their gambles payed off, ours didn't. And their front 7 was twice as physical as our OL and A-backs.
LSU will win the west, mark it down. That was a team one year removed from a MNC, and they have elite talent.

Similar sentiments plus the same happens when people talk about how we lost to LSU because of the offense we run.

What if LSU makes it to the championship next year, and we manage to get in as well? That would be quite the game.

I do not come away from the LSU game convinced there is any problem with our offensive system. The bad day at Chapel Hill did not carry over to the Miami and UGA games. The LSU game will not carry over to this season. If we execute our offense correctly it is a pain for anyone to defend.

We lost big because:
1. We got off to a bad start
2. LSU was ready, their new QB with a month to prepare made them a much better team than they were at any other time last season.
3. When the going got tough, we panicked a little. Sometimes an unexpected punch in the face early gets you off your game. It happens. Give credit to LSU.
4. The incredible win over UGA was our game of the year. The bowl was icing on the cake. I think we let u pa little bit. We will learn from it. Next time we will be more ready for a big bowl game.

I wouldn't.

Coach Johnson gave the team way too many days off, and we were obviously unprepared as a result.
Okay, how many days did he give them off? How many of the allowed days did we not use? What did we work on? What did we fail to work on? Unless you actually know anything about our preparation you're opinion is based on vapor. We lost because LSU played very well and we self destructed in the 2nd quarter.

I remember someone saying how many days, but I remember they got some days off for something, and some more to study and test for finals. Of course, studying for finals is important, but I do remember they were off for something else as well.

No you remember a story in the paper that the writer later said was misunderstood.

All in all, Coach gave the team a week's worth of practices off. That's 7 practices. It's not based on vapor, it's fact. We lost because Coach treated that game like a reward and not like a regular game. He knows it, too. I guarantee you it won't happen again.

Link me, don't just type it. That's not what he said on the radio today, btw.

Yes.

What he said on the radio was he DID treat it EXACTLY like a "regular game," instead of doing what many coaches do, which is treat the bowl practice like another set of Spring Drills.

That's exactly what he said on the radio.

I've mentioned before that I was an equipment manager for the football team for 3 years. I still have friends that are with the team. Every one of them has said that CPJ gave the team way more days off than Gailey ever did. Like, an abnormally high amount. It happened. In fact, before the game when both teams were on the field an assistant for LSU approached my friend and said "Is it true Coach Johnson gave y'all so many days off?".

He treated it like a reward for the kids which is cool I guess by itself, but you still have to practice.

The LSU game was the only thing you could really critique him on this year, but I also think he learned to do it differently next year.
