Duke football

Apparently Army thinks Duke sucks so bad they are letting them stay on the schedule. :p

You say that, but when ESPN was doing their prestige ranking stuff I found out at one point Duke had a season where they were not only undefeated but UN-****ING-SCORED UPON. That has been the most ridiculous stat I've ever heard.
You, no doubt, are refering to the famous "Iron Dukes". During the 1950s and most of the 1960s Duke was nobody's pansy. They played good football and were a thorn in our side for years.

The Iron Dukes were actually in 1938 and the only score they allowed was a TD to lose the Rose Bowl 7-3. IIRC the pass was from a backup QB. The highlight for Duke football was from 1931-1941 when Wallace Wade was coaching. Eddie Cameron filled in during the war years and had a good record, but Wade never really reached his prewar level when he returned. Bill Murray had a decent run from '51-'65 although his teams never lost fewer than 2 games. But since then Spurrier is the only Duke coach to have a winning record.

I believe Duke will be better. Cutcliffe is doing everything the right way. He is recruiting NC better - Ted's last year he had less than 10 North Carolinians on the roster. You have to some local base in recruiting.

Will they be great? No. But only Clemson and Ga Tech whipped them last year, 31-7 and 27-0. They beat the Hoos by 28, lost to Wake in OT, UNC 28-20, Va Tech 14-3, and won over Navy and Vandy. The trip to Durham will get harder.
