More Optimistic After T-Game?

So what's the general consensus? Are we better than we thought, worse, or right on track?

For me, we didn't play as well as I'd hoped, but my original prediction stays (mainly due to the level of improvement between last year's spring game and season):
(1) No worse than 10-3
(2) ACC title ours for the taking
(3) The team to beat in Georgia, and it ain't happenin' so take your small sack back to the ice truck dawgs.

THWG!!

Can't really base much off the spring game.

1 we ran a vanilla offense
2 we've been a lot more off the run and shoot in practice.
3 josh didn't play and he has improved a lot.
4 almost the whole OL was out.
5 that's the worse Jaybo has played all spring.
6 JD didn't play much.
7 we had a turn of turnovers
8 I'm just rambling on now.
9 were state champs.

But seriously I was impressed because we had a lot of starters out and a plethora of turnovers. Both teams still had over 400 yards.

We need to fix the kicking game or we're going to lose at least 2 close games.

I say we go for 8 or 9 regular season wins again.

I'd say I haven't got a clue because I only know our half of the story.

My WAG would be we'll have 5 games we should win, 2 where we'll be dogs but not large ones, and 5 iffy ones like we always have.

If our QB stays in one piece we could win 10, if not 8.

11-2 if injuries are at a minimum and if passing game is effective, around 55%-60% comp. percentage.(2 losses due to wear and tear of the long season)

I believe this season will test the mental/physical toughness of the team... can this team endure 11 straight weeks without a bye week

It was nothing. Nothing we want to reveal in the fall was shown at the spring game, many of the players played very little or not at all, it's a spring game, etc.

It means nothing really, but you can't help but feel a little optimistic just from that game, seeing as how we did pretty well any way.

Honestly it seems the me the hallmark of spring training is the level of individual improvement. It is very hard to judge a team that is playing itself for a lot of reasons. I'd say we at least look the play near our potential given how many of the people who were young/injured last season have improved this spring.

What I am hoping for: An ACC Championship

What I am expecting: A bowl game on or after New Year's Eve and a win over UGAg

What scares me: our kicking game and the health/execution of the o-line

Our OL will do fine. Our D sees everything we do in practice every day and have for two Springs and a Fall season now. The D knows the reads and cadence, they should be in the backfield causing turnovers. I would be worried if they didn't. No OL can block consistently when the D knows what is coming. They looked quicker and got downfield much faster this year. When we did throw in a reverse something new it was a big play.

CPJ said our offense is light years ahead of where it was last year and that's enough for me. I remember the BC game last year, the second or third game we played the TO and we came back from behind against once of the nation's better defensive teams. I was impressed then by what our offense could do with a healthy Nesbitt, and if CPJ said it's light years ahead of last year, then I am very, very excited.

Defense is another issue, particularly depth on the DL. But we'll need only a couple of stops a game with the offense we will have next year.

What I'm hoping for: A bowl game west of the mississippi ;)
What I'm expecting: 8~9 regular season wins and a shot at the ACCC. I think we will give up a lot of rushing yards next season. Maybe the most since before JT showed up on the flats. Hope I'm wrong.

I think it might end up being the flip side with more passing yards given up, mostly cause our linebackers are focused on stopping the run. If our secondary really step up it might not be so bad.

8-9 wins is not worthy of the ACCCG. A minimum of 10 is the standard now.
But I keep seeing this post of how our DL is small and will not stop the run. This is BS!!! This will probably be one the more complete DL we will have in 5-6 yrs. They are good(not great) the run/pass. Even if they have a avg day I believe the LBs that want and are ready to make plays. This will D will be top 15-25 in total yds this season

Didn't we get a bunch of those with Chan?

I hope he's one game wrong. :D

I'd be helluva scared if we faced Florida, I'll admit it. I'm not entirely sure we'll even make it that far, but looking at our schedule... I have this gut feeling that none of the games look threatening enough to lose to. My gut feelings are always great, too. I had a gut feeling we'd win Georgia, even when we were pretty behind at the half, and I had this feeling that LSU wasn't going to turn out well. I usually base it off of how motivated the team is, how it looks like they're practicing for it, the underdog factor, and just a general feel.
