UCLA declines Chick-fil-a Kickoff gm vs GT

I wonder if big, bad USCw would venture back over to the East Coast... They have no problem feeding on ACC bottom-feeders, but I'm curious as to how they'd react to being offered a matchup against us.

Part of me says they'd be too proud to turn anyone down, but part of me believes they'd realize that it is a perfect trap game.

Ohio State > Georgia Tech.

Just saying.

Problem is that the backouts from the high profile teams, we do have them in place but it's not enough to penalize the team for dropping the game. It's a drop in the bucket to some.

Then we need to get as many drops as we can from their bucket to fill our bucket.

Like Bama. Lets say Bama ditches. They can afford a million to ditch our game and get a guaranteed win, since they're paying Saban a million a game anyway.

Then we bank that cash and use it to retain PJ once Bama decides to try and hire him away from us.

Its a good thing Jim Jones isnt brewing the kool aid around here or some of yall would be done for.... are we better than recent years? YES, Are we looking at an uptick in talent and coaching? YES, Will we continue to get better? YES, Do we need to call out a college football juggernaut at this point? NO

Well, given Mover's statement this means one (or more) of the following:

2010 and 2011 - Ole Miss

2013 and 2014 - Alabama

2017 and 2018 - Auburn

2021 and 2022 - South Carolina

My money would be on the first two and definitely the second.

Just to be clear, I'm not wanting us to call out USCw. I don't even think it's our job to find the matchup? Isn't the Chicken Kickoff Game Committee responsible for that?

This is why we should take our bowl games a whole lot more seriously.

By the way, other than the fact that teams just don't want to ruin a good season by losing to another top team, I think the whole option thing will be overrated as the issue for dropping a game.

Florida runs the spread option as do other teams. I can see why a team would prefer to avoid a running option team when the rest of the year they play pro offenses. But the more Meyer is successful at Florida the more teams that will include it in their package. So you might as well play it.

I don't see a lot of middle-to-good teams going out of their way to schedule a home and home with Florida.

You'd be out of your mind to think that USC would turn down a game against anyone. They aren't scared, trust me.

Virginia Tech, the ACC Champion, BCS Bowl Game Champion.

vs.

Oregon State?

Not so sure your conjecture is accurate, just MHO ...

Big whoop. My high school team could beat Cincy. They ARE in the BE ya know.

New Mexico State is better than Grambling State.

Duke is better than Lehigh.

Washington is better than Youngstown State.

Just my 2 cents. ;]
