Ranking of 22?

I didn't know that Dwyer was the first sophomore to win Player of the Year in the ACC. That's outstanding.

I'll take it. We don't have an easy schedule, and we've got some pretty big questions coming into the season.

As more on that list are revealed the more I think I will probably call it BS. Only seen 2 lists that put us under 20. The other had UNC at number 9...

I think it is either stupidity or the belief that our offense will get screwed (another for of stupidity in this ones opinion) caused this because typically when you enter a new coaches 2nd season and return, what 18? starters you get better. Don't really see why we should enter next season with the exact same ranking we ended last season (post-bowl) with. I'm also going to guess that a few ranked higher than us will be viewed as complete BS.

After spring practice I don't mind being 22. I think we will be good, but some guys are predicting a top 10 season and I just haven't seen that kind of production yet. There are still many questions surrounding the defensive front and LBs. Our best QB can't stay healthy and none of them can throw. Our O-Line resembles one of those chinese fans and folds at the first signs of penetration. We haven't been able to establish a 2nd WR threat. The only thing that is guaranteed is that our running game will be outstanding and Morgan Burnett will be a MONSTER for us. Yes, we're good, but until we do something on the field, I don't want to be anywhere below about #15 or 16.

Lose the losers mentality

We should want to be ranked #1 every year, so that we have the best shot at winning the BCS championship every year. Paul Johnson would not stand for any of this talk. He expects to win every game.

The last thing I would want to have happen is ending the year undefeated and at #2 (just like Auburn in 2004). Like it or not, the preseason polls have a huge effect on who plays in the BCS championship.

Re: Lose the losers mentality

Only this poll isn't one of the BCS polls. I don't think this is anything to get worked up over in the slightest.

Oh I know... I was just supporting the sentiment that if you were to start the season unranked, and went undefeated, you're not a lock to play in the MNC... If you were to have one loss, then forget about it... The higher you're ranked and the later you lose, the less detrimental to your chances of playing in the MNC game.

22 is where we ended the season last year. So you are saying we are the same team that end against LSU?i beg to differ.

Where does it say that? 22 isn't a rating, it's a ranking. Are you trying to say that we moved forward and everyone else just did stay stationary? Or that people in front of us had a dropoff but no one behind us advanced?

In all honesty the preseason polls that aren't a part off the BCS/AP have no importance except for pride (hence why people are so talkative about them).
