That John Heisman resigned as GT football coach because he divorced his wife and left town to avoid humiliation to him and his wife? I am sure it is commong knowledge amongst some, I did not know that, assuming it's true. Either way its kind of an interesting piece of trivia...

I wouldn't worry to much about it. CPJ seems to be very happy in his marriage and I'm sure we have plenty of boosters willing to pay for marriage counseling or a new home at UPenn for his wife if things start looking rocky.

He supposedly said Atlanta wasn't big enough for both of them. I never heard he was worried about being humiliated though, I always thought he never wanted to see her again.

I thought I read it was part of the divorce agreement that she required him not to be in the same city. But been a while since I read it.

"wherever Mrs. Heisman wishes to live, I will live in another place. This will prevent any social embarrassment." to quote him

He had a great deal going in that he was also head of athletics at the Atlanta Country Club (East Lake). So he pulled in a decent salary between the two.

I'm sure he hated to leave...
