Speed AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT Route-Running Skills A big-bodied talent at WR, Hill will be an instant asset to any team. Uses size well to seal smaller defenders and has exceptional hands. Shows incredible speed for a player his size, both on the track and on the field, and gets in the endzone in a hurry. Is a surprisingly good down-field blocker for his height. Could play a number of positions in college but skill set is best suited for WR--Burke Hayes

Biography: 2007 - 24 receptions 500 yards with eight touchdowns. Had touchdowns on a 95 yard kickoff return and a 68 yard fumble return. Hill was a standout at the Under Armour/Scout.com Combine in Atlanta in June 2008 where he ran a 4.4 40.

There's little chance we get to redshirt Stephen, isn't there?

I'd say so....we don't really have much on the other side of Bey-Bey. Like the report said he would be an instant asset and unfortunately/fortunately (which ever way you look at it) he is definitely needed in that position...

No he could red shirt.
Bay bay
Tyler melton
Daniel mckayhan
Kevin cone

So its not a given that he plays from day 1. He has to beat out Jeremy Moore as well. He does have the skill set to do so though. A lot depends on blocking.

gt23eric...

I forgot about Melton. Although he did not totally impress me last year. Your right though, I guess he could red shirt...

Melton has looked great this spring. I think we have our 1 and 2 WR right now. IMO Hill will be battling for that 3rd spot.

I doubt McKayhan or Cone can beat out Hill. But who knows, it will be interesting to see who comes out of practice at 3.

I think we didn't really see what Melton can do last year. Didn't he get a knee injury early last season and when it healed enough for him to play he wasn't able to really do as well as he could have?

That seems right off the top of my head. I'm sure he will be a much more dynamic player when 100% healthy. I think Hill gonna be a beast though. 6'4" 188 lbs 4.44 40....It will all depend on who can block. Anybody know Melton's measurables?

I'm very impressed that the staff was able to land Hill. I don't think anyone expected us to land a 4star WR during the PJ tenure. Much less in his first year and then beating out UGA just makes it sweeter.

For sure! I thought CPJ couldnt recruit top notch talent to this offense. And a wide receiver on top of that! Especially stealing one away from UGAy. /sarcasm off

Sorry. I meant I didn't expect PJ to get a 4star WR. I knew he would do a fine job at recruiting. But I don't think anyone of us would have expected us to beat out UGA for a WR.

It might of been in our favor that it was obvious to everyone that UGAg came to Hill in desperation when their other 'blue-chip/collar/whatever' prospects went elsewhere.

Stephen Hill, Quentin Sims, Daniel McKayhan, Demaryius Thomas, and Tyler Melton will compete for playing time at WR

D Thomas has one side locked down.
Right now, Tyler Melton is the starter on the other side and had a solid spring....displays good hands.

Stephen Hill will press for significant playing time and will likely not redshirt.

Also fighting for time and good enough to play good minutes:

Kevin Cone
Quentin Sims
DJ McKayhan
Zach Fisher
Paul Reese

Watch out for Jeremy Moore. There is not much being said, but he is a very good receiver. It would be nice to redshirt him though.

It's good to hear about players like J. Moore. He's kind of gone under the radar, at least in the recruiting sense. I do not know much about him, but in the past I have loved many of the players that sought out Tech.

Melton got hurt vs Boston College and finally returned......

against Clemson?

Can't remember.

That is an insightful synopsis Captain Obvious.

It would be great if Hill can come in and compete, though this may depend on his blocking ability and getting in the weight room to add some muscle, 190lb is rather small for 6'4".
