NationalChamps Releases Preseason Top 50, Predicts 10-2 season

You know we are in good shape on offense when they list calvin booker as a key loss... no offense meant book, it just wasnt your system

Wonder who they have us losing to. I would feel it is safe to say we will lose two to teams we are not supposed to lose to, cough-uva-cough. hope not though.

They have Jonathan Dwyer and Jahvid Best as 3rd team All Americans.

Those 2 RBs are the top 2 on everyone else's list. Weird.

1st Team: Kendall Hunter and Jacquizz Rodgers

2nd Team: MiQuale Lewis and Evan Royster

3rd Team: Jonathan Dwyer and Jahvid Best

3 Seniors on the 1st team offense.

1 Senior on the 1st team defense.

0 Seniors on either the 2nd team offense or defense.

As good as 2009 looks, 2010 looks unreal.

Well the theory of that is who they think the All American's will be at the end of the season. I saw Rodgers tear USC's front 7 up last year so him being there is possible in my mind. Also, if something we have been theorizing comes true and Dwyer gets less yard because of shared load then it also isn't as surprising is it?

He had a really good line blocking for him, too.

Go look at his stats. Yes, he had a good year but not a first team All-American year (1,253 yds- 11 TDs).

He averaged 4.8 ypc.

The reason he got so much credit, though, was because of his great game against USC which also happened to be his highest output of the season.

I'm not trying to downplay the guy but from what I saw, he's not the first team AA. He's second or third.

Also, I disagree that Dwyer has a worse year statistically. People sold out last year to stop the dive and he still ended up with 1,400 yards at 7 ypc behind a patchwork OL. If things go as planned, the OL will be better this year, thus meaning he will have a better seam to hit when the dive is ran.

This all IMO, of course.

I don't disagree with you, and I didn't know that about how he did in other games. Hell running like that over a number 1 ranked team on a thursday night can do that for a player :D.

I would also point out that he was a freshman last year (true or RS I don't know), so that's why I said he could get to that level, or at least I wouldn't put it out of possibility.

Well, take a look at their last year's picks. They picked Ohio State to win and GT wasn't in the top 50.

Good point about him being a freshman. He very well could end up being a first team AA but the chances of that happening as a sophomore when you have several upperclassmen who are just as good or more proven in a sense, are slim, IMO.

It was amazing what happened in the USC game, though.

I would, however, say that the DL's Dwyer had to run against this year were much tougher overall than those Rodgers faced.

We'll definitely have a lot better team in 2010, but the record might not improve much due to a much tougher road schedule.

Of course, it's hard to improve on 14-0! :p

This year we get 5 of the top 7 at home. Next year it'll be 6 of the top 8 on the road: UGA, Kansas, VT, Clemson, UNC, and Wake

Lets just rephrase that and say that we have 0 easy road games. (six is all of em)
