HD Top 30 ACC Players Countdown

Calls out the SEC teams for not playing the Pac 10 teams while Pac 10 teams refuse to cross the Mississippi.

You may want to check your facts on this one man.

USC traveled to Arkansas in 06

WSU traveled to Auburn in 06

Arizona traveled to LSU in 06

Cal traveled to Tenn in 06

UCLA traveled to Tenn in 08

USC traveled to UVA in 08

Not saying the Pac 10 is the best conference or anything, but that particular argument doesn't seem to hold water.

Was just a turn of phrase I had heard (though USC to UVA isn't as impressive, kinda like us and Jax St in comparison).

However I take your point. Even so I can use that info because my point was that the guy was calling out SEC teams for not playing Pac 10 teams and all but one on that list is exactly that!

Although I guess it helps to pass the time before the season starts, and I guess some lame argument can be made that this helps with recruiting, but the simple fact is HD can write whatever the hell she wants... it will not make us win or lose any more games this year. I could care less what she has to say.

Arkansas is west of the Mississippi. Just sayin.

Granted, USCw didn't go anywhere, but they did play tOSU and took them to the shed last year.

The PAC-10 was the best conference last year and it wasn't even really close. The Big 12's collective OOC schedule was simply criminal and they were rewarded with all sorts of media praise for allowing all sorts of yards to each other.

Not that the PAC 10 will stay there. The rest of the country, especially the SEC, was really down. The ACC should be the best conference next year, considering how well the conference did last year with very young teams.

Seconding this, no matter what anyone writes it won't help us win or lose games,
and in all honestly i enjoy being the underdog going in.
If you start at the top like ugay, like we all know, the only place u can go is down.
It is nice that Morgan, Burnett, and Dwyer will probably all be recognized in her top 30 or whatever. But what she thinks or anyone else thinks again is really irrelevant.
On a side note the pac-10 consist of USCw, Cal, Oregon, and everyone else. So I would like to see those teams playing against the SEC teams.

I may be destroying this thread but I can't keep quite.
How the hell was the Pac-10 the best conference last year?!!
You can't be the best conference when a 5th of your conference goes 2-22 on the season. They like to talk about their bowl record, but the fact remains that:

One - even though they went 5-0, that's still only 5 teams when conferences with only 1 or 2 more teams get 7/8+ teams into bowls

Two - Only two of those bowls was not a match up that favored the Pac-10. The Rose and Emerald bowls were played on Pac-10 turf against teams that were not on the same level as the other team. Can't brag about the Sun Bowl when you beat a Big East team 3-0. Only decent victories were Arizona over BYU and Oregon over Ok St (which required an injury to Ok St's star player, but that argument is streching things).

That's my argument.

P.S. if that was sarcasm then you gotta be more blunt since we only got written words to work with here

Burnett comes in at no. 7:

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/acc/0-6-227/Counting-down-the-ACC-top-30-players--No--7.html

Why he's here: He has excellent speed, vision, and no active player in the ACC has more career interceptions than Burnett. He was tied for third nationally last year with seven interceptions and he has 10 in his career. He had more interceptions last season than the entire team had the previous year (five) and more single-season INTs than any Yellow Jacket since 1991 when Willie Clay had nine. As the last line of defense, Burnett had 24 more tackles than anyone else on the team. He finished 2008 with seven tackles for loss, eight pass break-ups and one forced fumble. He led the Jackets in tackles (93) and solo tackles (62).

Prediction:
1. Dwyer
2. Wilson
3. Spiller
4. Worilds

Honorable mention: Herzlich

Edit: did not see you just put the same list down, goldentornado. nonetheless, that's my guess. Surprised there is no room for Taylor.

So I emailed HD and am trying to get her to go out on a date with me so I can tell her how much she sucks. Its not looking good so far. She thinks I am joking.

I'd pick Taylor instead of Spiller. Spiller is speed, but he's not gotten it done in 3 years. Why put him in the top 4 athletes in the whole conference? At least Taylor led his team to the ACC championship last year.

Wilson's another one I'd withhold on, seeing we've seen him for about 9 games. He's averaging about 195 yards passing/game and less than 40 yards rushing. He was 7th in passing yards in the ACC, but 1st in passing efficiency and total offense/game.

He's got a lot of potential, but top five players in the conference? Meh.

^I don't disagree. However, I am predicting what HD will pick. Since Spiller is looking like a 1st/2nd rounder in next year's draft I would go with him to make it in the top 30 in the ACC. And I guess she is coming from the perspective that VT's offense was pretty bad last year. Taylor was, although always athletic, inconsistent at best.

I understand. BTW, I don't think Spiller will touch the first or second round unless he has a breakout year this year. His legacy there will be blown opportunity. He might make a later round or UFA.

Fair enough. I think it's clear that Spiller's sophomore season was his best thus far. I think it is easy to forget that their O-Line last year was very young, which could go along way to help him this year.

Currently he is listed as a 1st/2nd rounder (not that these mock drafts matter in the least, and not that they would affect your opinion on whether he will actually get drafted that high anyway) on most mock drafts.

I guess we'll see.
