Following is a list of schools with the number of consecutive bowl game appearances in parentheses:

  • Florida State (27)
  • Florida (18)
  • Virginia Tech (16)
  • Georgia, Georgia Tech (12)
  • Texas (11)
  • Boston College, Oklahoma (10)
  • Auburn, LSU, Ohio State, Texas Tech (9)
  • Southern Cal (8)
think we can overtake ugay, vt, uf, and fsu sometime in the near future?

the bold have no chance of losing the streak for atleast 6 years(most is cause of the easy schedules) not meaning the schedules are easy just easy for how good they are

ex: the sucky teams i bold have easy schedule while the good teams have a hard schedule for most fbs teams just that the are on a different level then most fbs teams

Funny, I thought Auburn's bowl streak was a solid 0.

Teams ahead of us:

FSU - They seem to just make it every year, so I could see them losing it.

UF - Uhhh... not as long as Meyer is around. Probably not after that either.

VT - I could see them having a couple of down seasons when Beamer retires. That could be several years yet though.

UGA - This year will be their best chance to lose it in a while, but I don't see it happening as long as Richt is around.

I agree, of the ones with equal or greater number than us, FSU is the most likely to fall out. Wasn't it only a few years ago they had a season where they only had 6 or 7 regular wins. The ACC is getting all around stronger and they're having a coaching change soon so there is an opportunity.

It's very hard to not make a bowl game, but Auburn proved that anyone can be bowlless even with the large number of bowl games. I think we stay on that list at least as long as CPJ is with us.

You barely need any wins to get into bowls anymore... Isn't the minimum for the ACC like four or six this year?

No one is immune to a freak season. Look at Alabama, Tennessee, and Michigan. None of those programs are on this list.

The minimum is 6-6 but there's some rules making it tougher for 6-6 teams to make it. Since most schools have 3 or 4 patsies for their OOC schedule, they only have to win 3 or 4 conference games to get a bowl.

If GT somehow sneaks to the top, that would be neat from a prestige standpoint. But other than that, the stat is still kind of meaningless.

It wasn't that long ago we led the nation in all-time bowl winning %. Winning when you get there is a lot more impressive than consecutive appearances. I'd gladly give up our 12 yr bowl streak if we'd get back to winning bowls.
