I can HARDLY wait for the 1st kickoff for the GT Football season...Just reading this article gets me pumped up & ready to go!

There are several great quotes within the article but here's one that shows the unselfish mentality of the Disel...“Pretty much the play starts with me and (quarterback) Josh (Nesbitt), and it depends on what the defense wants to do. If the defense wants to key on me, then someone else will have a big game, and if they want to key on the passing game, then we’ll run the ball all day long,” Dwyer said."

For those who are worrying about the other schools keying in on our tendencies/schemes look at what our own Defense has to say about the Offense this year "(Early) last year, when they were just learning the offense, you can make one false step, but you still might be able to make the tackle,” Reese said of corralling Georgia Tech’s running backs in its then-new option offense. “Now, I can’t even explain it, man. These guys, it seems like they’re going 100 mph. They’re 10 times better than they were last year.”:wow:

Stuff like this always make me excited. Can we again predict how many yards we'll put on Jax. St. or how many points?

my aplogies to the person who posted this story before me....I didn't see it prior to listing it as a new thread... On the other hand it goes w/o saying...can't post some of this stuff enough...GO JACKETS!

No need to apologize. Some folks may get upset for reposts but I'm not one of them.

Especially a post as awesome as this... that article fires me up, too, kinda like "Shake N' Bake" fired up Will Ferrell and his buddy in the movie Talladega Nights.

I hope we go easy on Jax St so as not to show any new weapons in advance to upcoming opponents.

I agree - but I sure wouldn't mind us testing out all kinds of passing plays. This serves two purposes: gives us real game experience doing that stuff and allows our opponents to witness the firepower of this fully operational triple option (perhaps they won't be so quick to sell out on the run).

Agreed, as useful as passing can be if we can convince them to fear it then we won't even need to use it. Guess that's kinda the whole point.

If I remember right last year, Jax St played the run very heavily. We had a few big passing plays in the first quarter and then started running. PJ said something along the lines of the "the game would have gotten too out of hand if we kept throwing"

Point is, if everything goes right in that game we'll probably just run the TO a 100 times.

Defenses will always have to play the dive first and the QB second. If they do not they'll be no need to throw the ball. Having said that I would like to see us pass about 25% - 30% to improve the timing and confidence of the QB and WR's and/or A-Back's. The fact that we pitch the ball often we will fumble slightly more than traditional running schemes especially when you couple that with bad weather. There will be times when we will need to pass.

I also agree that we will play at a much faster speed now that the players have a better comfort level. I've watched CPJ and his offense for many years. He never really had the speed players at Navy like he had at GSU. When GSU was clicking on all cylinders the play's developed quickly with the speed to attack the openings. Speed is not a problem here at Tech. :D
