Video board update

Here are 2 pictures from this morning and some things I noticed.

North endzone: They are starting to dismantle the old scoreboard to put in ribbon boards

South endzone: I thought that the boards next to the big one would be video boards. However, they are those cheesy tri-fold boards that rotate.

East stands: The ribbon boards on that side are going up. They are being placed on the new ISP suites (I think that's what they are).

West stands: The BDS @ HGF sign is gone and they are starting on the ribbon boards for that side.

One last note on the sound system. So far it appears all of the speakers are still in the south endzone. Hopefully they add some to the north endzone and even the east and west stands too.

Well that's good. I think it should definitely be somewhere.

I hate video ribbons too. It's just more stuff to distract you from the game, especially because the ads will purposely be colors that stand out to draw your attention.

This is what it's supposed to look like in the end. Apparently they are moving the BDS sign to the south endzone below the video boards. Looks like it's going to be hard to see, IMO...

Moving "Welcome to BDS @ HGF" to the South End Zone flanking the video board is a great idea. It'd will be visible to nearly the whole stadium that way.

In case you forget where you're at, right?

That picture makes me ill. It looks like we're ricin' out BDS. All we need is some sideways kanji script and a spoiler. This only reaffirms my desire to always sit in the South Endzone student section for games.

Any particular reason why that picture has to be so fuzzy?

Looks kinda nice... hopefully that GIANT bank of america sign won't be there.

...still need to move the Wardlaw building 25 ft to the right in order to be symmetrical with the field. :hsugh:

That's the clearest picture online that I could find for the final product. The ones that were first posted were taken by my phone... so they could only be so good.

There is no big BoA sign. The boards already have all of the advertisements on them and none of them take up the whole thing.

Well, I don't get to go to all the games living on the left coast. When I do, it's those little things that make it a great experience. Walking in and seeing the "Welcome to Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field" gives me chills. Seeing the Tech Tower over the West stands and the Hall of Famers on the East stands. Having a big green patch on the video board because of a dead panel sucked, so the new board will be great. The extra ads, ehh, it sucks but the positives of the board outweigh it to me. New sound system will be nice to.

:laugher:

Mark my words, this will be the worst part of it all. Ever been to a Falcons game? It's like an assault on the ears. Now, instead of the traditional band music, we'll be piping in rap music. The band was already having difficulty finding times to play, this may be one of the final straws.

This is something that I would be worried about, although I think that if it ever got as bad as a Falcon game, there'd be enough complaining from fans to tone it down. They should only use those speakers to play music when the other team's obnoxious crap bands are playing their obnoxious crap theme songs.
