GT Jersey #21: Who will dawn the #21 post Dwyer next year? (not pusing him out)

For selfish reasons I hope it's Dwyer again next year but I doubt it...I think he'll be playing on Sundays wearing #21 of NFL's Team....Just for kicks who do you think will/would draft him & how high would he go?

Was curious who will have the talent & athleticism to follow Dwyer, who was preceeded by Calvin Johnson, to wear the #21... These are two back to back tremendously talented/gifted players. Is it possible the next person could/would be even more gifted?:eek5:

Seriously, which rising recruit or developing player has the potential and skill to have such an impact?

What would it take for GTAA to retire the jersey? Would they retire it if somehow Dwyer won the Heisman?

In summary, I am going to soak it all in every game this year & enjoy it snap by snap...Dwyer make us proud & show'em you're the best back in the NATION!

Better make that back-to-back-to back: Jonathan Smith was also a talented player--IIRC, think he was the last GT player to return a punt or a kickoff for a touchdown.

I think they'd retire it if the bearer went off and died in World War III. I love that Castleberry's #19 is the only football number we've retired. I'd be fine if we never retired another.

Same with GT baseball, as well. The only player number we've retired is 33, Varitek's number. He was unquestionably the greatest GT baseball player ever, and probably the greatest college catcher as well. That's a good place to stop for now.

Wieters fans would argue with you

One more year, at least one Heisman, and at least one BCS title. Dwyer is nowhere even near jersey-retirement level, for any school. Calvin was closer based on his talent, but not on our level of team accomplishment and he left early.

I love that we've only retired #19's jersey. However, if we were to win a MNC and JD were to win the Heisman, there's no sane reason not to retire his jersey. The guy is a first class individual off the field, and he would have done something that no football player has ever done on the Flats.

Without the MNC, it's a tougher argument, admittedly.

Thanks for the feedback..... Don't forget about the other part of the original post....
Which recruit or current underclassman has the talent/athleticism to wear the #21 jersey after Dwyer is done with it?

I still don't think we should retire his number, even with all that. We've had plenty of very, very good players before CJ, and we will have very good players in the future. There were guys in the past that would have had their numbers retired by other teams. But we don't retire numbers. Not for anything short of making the ultimate sacrifice. I don't ever want to see another number retired.

By the way...is there some alternate definition of "dawn" that I don't know about?

-5 pts from my post misuse of word....

Suppose you'd have to share the definitions that you're familiar with & then we'd be able to answer that question....

Perhaps I should've used the word DON:

#21 will not be retired for the same reason #14 is not retired, and same as #12 and #4 are not retired in Basketball.

On to the original question, it will obviously be a non-QB skill position player. That leaves Perkins, Ayers, Bostic, Holton, and Johnson. I say Perkins???
