UGAg this year

I believe Cox determines whether ugay wins or not. If he can execute under pressure, they can win. If he struggles, look for the nadlickers to have a long season.

Indeed, this is the other reason why I give Oklahoma St a good shot. Quarterback is a question mark. A main running back hasn't been decided.

PERFECT summary of your typical uga season

@ Okla St - Cowboys have 4 turnovers, Dawgs win 19-17.

South Caroliney - UGA wins 13-6. Seen this game before.

@Arkansas - I wish that I believed Arkansas could beat UGA. Dawgs 28-20.

Ariz St - Dawgs roll 38-14.

LSU - LSU has their worst game of the year and Dawgs win 28-27.

@Tenn - Dawgs come into the game a confident 5-0 versus The Mighty And Heralded All Time Hardest Schedule of All Time. Players stay at practice an extra hour during the week to rehearse endzone celebrations. Mark Richt distracted by cover shoots for ESPN and Christianity Today magazines. Dawgs lose 42-14.

@Vandy - Halftime score: Vandy 14 UGA 6. Final score: Vandy 14 UGA 34.

Florida - UF 52 UGA 16. Poor officiating; game much, much, much closer than the score indicated. I mean it was pretty much a toss-up.

Tenn Tech - W

Auburn - UGA wins 17-12 in one big ugly-ass game.

Kentucky - UGA wins by three touchdowns.

UGA will be 9-2 and will be favored by oddsmakers to beat Tech.

I think U[sic]GA will win 10+ games. They'll be the second best team in the Special Ed Conference. This might very well be the year that we beat the SEC champs, if UF slips up.

The AJC might call it the year of the ginger kids, until we beat them.

College football has a lot to do with team chemistry. The mutts haven't had any off-season arrests for the first time I can recall. Normally they reach double figures. I'm worried that they have actually focused on football during this off-season, rather than DUI's, hitting pregnant women, beating up skinny kids, robbing stores, or reckless driving with their European style scooters; and since marrying your cousin is also now legal, I'm sure they've avoided a number of arrests on that front.

Their superstars who were more about themselves than the team are gone. They won't have to get over that hurdle. U[sic]GA has a very talented and deep roster. I think if they are focused, they will be good enough to hang within a touchdown of us.

That said, I hope they go 0-12.

8-4 or worse would be a surprise to me. I hope it's more like 4-8, but their O-line will give Cox all the time in the world.

Hope so, but fifth year QBs are usually an exception to the "deer in the headlights" that plagues new signalcallers. Plus he has a good support staff in particular the line. Georgie won a lot before Moreno with pretty average RBs (although they had EXCEPTIONAL QBs) so if King only makes average they will probably still be very good on O.

Also, their D usually looks good early. I expect a strong showing by their D in week one.

The best team Ok St beat last year was Missouri. They lost to TX, TT, OK, and Oregan (I think).

I suspect that UGa will beat them by a score of 35-24 or so.

The best team UGA beat in 2008 was Michigan State.

They lost to UF, Bama, and GT.

Don't get me wrong, I think UGA will be decent this year. But it's hardly reasonable to dismiss Okie State b/c they didn't beat any elite teams in 2008, when Georgia didn't either.

I'll be shocked if they don't win at least 9. 2006 was the closet they've been to actually retooling their team and they won 9. The SEC was stronger that year, too, IMO.

ARK, AU and UT all are very questionable teams this year with major changes underway, and Vandy, USCe and UK are not all that and a bag of chips. They can ebat you on any day, but hardly tougher than UMD, WFU and NCSU. In conference, they play UF and LSU which are both very good to great teams. They should go 6-2 in conference, and lose 1, maybe 2, of OSU, ASU, TT or GA Tech. They'll win their bowl.

That program's on auto-pilot now. Richt's a solid coach and a superior recruiter. UGAg is the new FSU of the 90's, w/o the crummy conference to dominate.

Or, Ed Tolley has been working triple time !!!!

Did you not see any of their games last year ? Preseason #1 and just squeaked by S. Carolina, Auburn and Kentucky, and I mean squeaked. Laid a big egg on national TV, while blacked out, against Alabama, and got destroyed by Florida. Then, blew a 28-12, corrected, halftime lead and lost against us, my favorite by the way :D. And you can't see why they are overrated ? A leopard can not change his spots overnight !!

Plenty of our wins were squeakers and several of our losses were by big margins. And UNC is the definition of laying an egg when a win puts us in the drivers seat for the ACCCG.

IMHO in 2008, Alabama and Florida had clearly better teams than Georgie. I also saw that after the season fell apart, when most teams would start "mailing it in", Georgie still had what it took to simply show up and beat Auburn and UK.

I am also putting faith in an anecdote that Martinez actually said WTTE that they didn't need to practice special for the option that they would simply "outathlete" us.

Florida and probably LSU are the only teams that Georgie faces with better raw talent than the mutts. I expect a big loss to UF again and LSU to overcome the stench and win on the road. After that, I assume that:
(a) Georgie has a favorable, often huge, talent gap
(b) Georgie has a coaching staff that averages about 10 wins year in and year out

Changing overnight would be winning less games than they have ever lost in seven years. Winning far less seems highly unlikely.

How are they gonna do?

There are 2 ways this year could go for them and it depends on Joe Cox. UGAg fans are hyping him up to be the next Stafford and saying that another 10 win season is in the works.

1. If Cox plays well:

Ok State L
South Carolina W
Arkansas W
Arizona St. W
LSU L
Tennessee W
Florida L
Tennessee Tech W
Auburn W
Kentucky W
GT L

I would hate that.

However,

2. If Cox does not live up to the hype:

Ok State L
South Carolina L
Arkansas W
Arizona St. L
LSU L
Tennessee L
Florida L
Tennessee Tech W
Auburn W
Kentucky W
GT L

Pretty big difference I see and boy would I love it.

What do you guys think? I see this year as a 50/50 year for them. They will have a good season, or a bad season, no in between.

What I would love to see is and 0'fer.

If Cox plays well...10-2. Do not underestimate the willingness of the SEC to perpetuate fraud to win a game that enhances their perception of strength.

If Cox doesn't play well... 8-4.

I'll be supporting every team UGA plays, but I also think the more they lose, the more dangerous they will be when they play us.
