Opens up another scholarship for the heralded 2010 class.
We can sign 13 AT LEAST, but will probably sign anywhere from 14-17.

There has been info on this on the pay site message boards (both as I understand it)...but there is more research to be done.
DeRon was at practice Monday (I have not talked to my contact yet who was there today)...just not on the 105 man roster. I will leave it at that until more is known.
btw....the football office took Riley off the roster today on RamblinWreck.com...but not Jasper. Jasper is still on it.

Could it be an academic issue that the GTAA is appealing? This seemed to happen a lot several years ago. He also has been hurt a lot over the years.

he missed all of spring practice with injuries....of course a lot of players did.

It does appear he did not return to practice today.
Jasper has had knee problems for awhile...and did not participate in spring practice. My understanding was that he did not love football.

his bio on RR.com said that he sat out the spring with a shoulder injury and was concerned that it would keep him out part of the fall.....who knows?

He simply has been injured off and on for two years with sore shoulders and knees...missed all of spring practice with knee trouble...and slid way down the depth chart. He did not make the 105 man roster to open fall which meant he would not have traveled....but was given the opp to work his way back up.
He chose not to. He may remain on scholarship and take a medical for his shoulders or knees which means he could still graduate at GT on scholarship but not count against the 85 total.
Please understand that the school does not have to honor scholarship renewals each year anyway. Many times not doing your off-season conditioning or seeking appropriately levels of treatment and rehab for injuries can lead to non-renewal. I am not saying this is the case here...because we renewed. The 85 limit is not until fall of 2010.
