The preseason coaches poll is out!!!!!!

What is going through a coach's....ERRRRRR...SID's head when they select UGAg ahead of GT. Didn't they watch the game last year? Don't they know that UGA lost most of their offensive production and have a new QB?

More motivation for the season. THWG.

probably not

Coaches don't have time to keep up with every team, in detail.

Most of these votes are based off of what little the coach happened to see of a team last year, last year's final record, and the team's track record over the last few seasons.

Nothing more.

We're where we belong after the bowl game, especially in the eyes of many. We'll need to prove ourselves to get further. Unfortunately we may go down a spot or two after JSU, though we'll probably go up again after Clemson.

But is it a majority of pollsters who feel this way? What is your guess?

Most regular pollsters are just going by what most remember us by the whole season, and the 38-3 game left a bad end to everyone. I remember someone saying before the game that if we won we'd be around 12 in the preseason, if we won by a lot around 10, and if we lost, in the 20s. I suppose we're lucky we're still in the top top 15 in most polls.

At this point polls mean very little because the season hasn't even begun yet. Yeah I know it's important to start out as high as possible, but last year Alabama rose from the 20 range to number 1. After three games or so we'll have a pretty good idea of who belongs in the top 10.

TIC, Xihix. :p

Doesn't Spurrier vote for Duke every year? I didn't see a vote for Duke this year.

The loser of the U[sic]GA at OK State will fall behind us so I doubt we'll fall.

+1

U(sic)GA was ranked #1 in last year's preseason polls. Didn't mean squat.

I think people here are complaining less about where we are and more about the fact that Georgia was put higher. Just gives me extra motivation to want Oklahoma St to beat them.

I'm not going to complain. In my 13 year tenure as a Tech fan we have yet to perform to positive pre-season expectations.

I strongly believe that CPJ will change that, but right now I am happy if we start 16th and finish as good or better than we started.

I don't see why we'd go down more than one spot for beating a team we're suppose to beat (I personally think we shouldn't drop at all), but with VPI playing Bama, Georgia playing OKSU, Oregon playing a perfectly losable game against Boise St., California playing Maryland (whom they lost to last year, so things could happen) and hell even Ohio St might get horrifically upset by Navy (just cause its Navy :D), we're actually likely to move up a spot if the dice fall our a way a few times.

This.

The last three seasons we've had expectations near this high were 2006, 2001, and 1999.
