Let's Start Praying

I want him to do what's best for him.

Other great backs will see that the road to the NFL goes through GT just as smoothly as it does for any SEC school. Except a GT degree actually means something.

We win either way. Trust me.

If he does go pro (and I think he should and will), he will have given GT three great years of football and will have constantly been a GREAT ambassador for GT. Also, by having a successful NFL career he can show everyone that playing under PJ is more of a catapult to the NFL than it is a hurdle.

+1

I'll only pray that he has a great and healthy year. As much as I'd love to see him don the GT uniform for his senior year and become a fellow Tech alumni, he has to think about his future first. I'll become a partial fan of whichever NFL team drafts and signs him.

On the other hand, Jon being drafted high and getting the recognition can only help us with recruiting.

My selfishness wants him to stay, but I do want him to succeed and get what he deserves. It's really up to him though, we'll see what happens... I'm willing to bet he'll be a higher pick though if we have a really successful season.

Great, we can't even expect the AJC to know the ****ing difference between an Aback and a Bback.

Ha, was about to point that out. Oh well. A lot of people I know don't understand the difference either.

The author (Dough Roberson) is UGA alum. Go figure!

Doug is actually doing pretty good with the blogs and the editorials. Yeah, he slips up every now and then (most notably using Roddy WHITE instead of Roddy JONES), but overall he's doing a respectable job. Get over the fact that he's a uga alum - there are several on here as well.

The only way he stays is if he wants to make a run at the Heisman in 2010. Other than that, he has absolutely no reason to stay.

Well, he is smart enough to be at Tech for two years and counting so I imagine he'll be able to figure out the obvious right choice.

Like a lot of others have said, his success will be like a big billboard for us.

We have never had a problem getting a solid running back lately anyway. We may not have one exactly like him for a long while but we don't really need someone quite that good to be successful anyway. The typical 4 stars we'll be getting will be plenty good enough for us to have a lead guy gaining about 1200 yds a year.

While it would be bittersweet to see him go first round, because I'll miss watching him turn on the afterburners, at least I'll be content knowing that the coaching staff didn't waste his three years here, unlike Calvin Johnson. I also don't doubt that Paul Johnson will find someone just as good to fill that hole.

We've got Tashard, who's looking good for the Cowboys, and Jon Dwyer going first round. When do we become Georgia Institute of Running Backs?

I agree. He makes a few writing mistakes once and a while (much less than I would in the situation). A least for this A/B - back thing. Lets not forget that this guy does go to and cover our practices right now, so when he comes back from that he has to write up the report while also writing whatever other articles for that evening.

Do keep in mind that between Richard Watson and Daniel Drummond, our future appears quite secure at B-back. Drummond in particular is a guy I can't wait to see on the field.

That's not to say I won't hope for Dwyer's return, just that he won't leave us with a gaping hole a la Vance & Darryl.
