I Just wanted to get a feel for the players' attitude this season. I know CPJ's standards are extremely high and he always tells it like it is, but all the comments about the players "acting like they've won something already" has got me a little worried. Even last year the trend continued with winning as an underdog, then once we get ranked top 25 our heads get in the way of the game and we blow it. I see more than potential for a great season this year and my biggest concern is our mindset - that has been our biggest weakness every year as far as I'm concerned...
So to y'all who have made it out to practice, do they really look lackadaisical? Is CPJ just doing his thing and expecting his normal amount of effort (200%).

PJ doesn't accept lackadaisical. In his world, that's the quickest way to get grass drills until you puke.

When were these comments being made? This pre-season or prior to the bowl game?

I've always been accustomed to PJ's teams behaving like well seasoned veterans, and that's likely because in most cases they were. He's a big believer in building depth and having strong leadership from seniors and juniors. His team of mostly freshmen and sophomores last year had lots of highs and lows, more than you'll see from his teams in general. I expect it to be better this year but its still a team of mostly sophs and juniors.

The comments were made about yesterdays or the day befores' practice I believe....

Moments earlier, the head coach watched as his team followed his orders and participated in an extra five minutes of running short wind sprints to make up for the perceived shoddy effort.
But as the team ran, there was one notable exception. Freshman quarterback David Sims did not complete the drill and walked away from it before his teammates had finished.
“I don’t know about David Sims. David Sims can’t finish a drill at the end, so we’ll see,” Johnson said.
Uh, :wtf:
