CFN is running articles on "land mines" in everyone's schedule. This is ours:

Oct. 3 at Mississippi State
This is a landmine because ... Games against BCS league teams are always dangerous, but coming in the midst of the nasty part of the ACC season makes it even tougher. Not only does Georgia Tech go to Starkville after playing Clemson, at Miami, and North Carolina, and with a trip to Florida State, a home game against Virginia Tech, and with three more road games in a span of four weeks, there's serious brain-cramp potential. Not helping matters will be the MSU linebacking corps, which is strong enough to potentially keep Jonathan Dwyer and the Tech offense in check.

I kind of doubt that last sentence.

I'm sorry...I'm sure you typed something in that box to the right, but I just can't read it.

My focus is gone. :wow:

GT wont have a problem with MSU. The MSU offense couldn't score in a Bangkok whorehouse. MSU will probably win 2-3 games in 2009. I think GT wins 31-10

Did they get new LBs this year? A bunch of transfers? We ran over those pansies last year. You could say that any game is a landmine. But I wouldn't have picked this game as a landmine. CFN is losing more and more of my respect. I used to trust/respect them, but now they are becoming ESPN3.

MSU always has a lot of JC players, they have trouble recruiting against Ole Miss,LSU,Alabama and Auburn.

Yeah I've also come to dislike CFN. For me the dealbreaker was when they did top offensive units in the country, the team they put between LSU and Ohio St is, wait for it, Illinois. Duke had more wins against bowl eligible teams than they did last year.

Honestly I think our true land mine game is Vandy or maybe Duke. Duke comes right before a break after 11 weeks of football and then the UGA game to follow it. It is possible some of our players might be looking ahead during that game.

This message is to those who think the MSU game is in the bag -

See 2008 Gardner Webb - Georgia Tech game.

We can't overlook anybody, especially teams from the SEC.

It's true that it could happen, but we're just comparing probabilities here.

List of likelihood of loss, in my opinion:
Vandy > MSU > Duke

I would put it more like this:

WF > Vandy > Duke >> MSU.

WF and Vandy both have defenses that will be more 'disciplined' than any other we will face, so that could cause problems in our big play ability. Duke with Cutcliffe may begin getting offensive this year and be able to hang with some teams, if we have some bad TO's I could see this being a bad trap game. MSU...seriously? The same MSU that lost to Auburn 3-2? That we steamrolled with our #2 QB?

Well for MSU I think the timing is a lot worse than with Duke. MSU precedes FSU and VT, Duke precedes a bye week. As for Wake Forest, I never considered it a trap game because I never considered that a game we are heavily favored to win like the other 3.

I think that MSU will be a good team... next year. Dan Mullen is one of the main reasons that Urban Meyer is lighting up the SEC. The other being loose recruiting practices.

Either way, I don't want to take a team with a new headcoach for granted, but I don't think we lose. Paul Johnson isn't the type of person that lets a team lose focus for an out of conference game, unlike the last guy.

I'd go with Wake. That game scares me.

Didn't Wake lose most of their defensive players? I don't see how they can stop our offense unless we have a big let down game. Maybe they could outscore us, but it doesn't scare me too much, especially at home.

Thank You Ramblin....an actual fan that understands how you approach sports.

This is why you play 12 1-game seasons. You take it 1 game at a time. And if you're a coach who happens to notice that his players may be lookin' forward instead of at the task at hand...you slap the #$% & out of them and make it completely clear that TODAY is what matters....not Sept 10 or Oct 3 or Nov 28

You play today and you play til the whistle....period

VANDY is the team that scares the heck out of me. Bobby Johnson is a coach, much like Jim Grobe is a coach, much like Paul Johnson is a coach.

Sure, there are no real big games for us to look ahead/behind to, but Vandy is a well coached, smart, disciplined team that knows and stays within their responsibilities. That game, and the game after it (Wake) frighten me much much more than MSU.

This message is to those that keep bringing up the Gardner Webb game:

When you use your third string QB, who is a career backup that doesn't have the athletic profile to be successful in your offensive scheme, you will not perform well.

If Josh gets hurt, and Tevin gets hurt, and Jaybo isn't back yet, then we can get worried about any game with that circumstance.
