Ravens just ran a TO play

Dude, I JUST saw that and was about to post it. Very interesting.

Troy Smith is garbage, shoulda let Jayson Foster run it! QB Option Pass for a TD. (or keeper)

It wouldn't work beyond the first couple games because NFL players are bigger and faster and because they have all day every week to break down film and prepare. It might work once every couple games, but if you do it often enough to make a difference teams are going to start preparing for it and start stopping it, a la the option play the Falcons ran with Vick that one season.

You'd have to switch it up in the NFL and college. TO with some pass and other runs. Hmm, something I think we'll see with Tech (already have to some extent). You could also get all of the run/pass qb's who are 2nd or third teamers and put 'em in as a 1st stringers. Those guys aren't as expensive as most starting QB's (they wouldn't start anywhere else). So when one goes down, simply replace him. It's easier to replace than a pocket passer. I've always hated the lame argument they have time to prepare, yeah well so does your offense. You're allowed to have speed on offense, too. Change things up, you always have to throw in some different plays. By the way, CPJ's blocking schemes are what really screws up D's, it's not just the TO. In game adjustments can screw up the best game plan. Remember offensive guys are professional, too.

The hardest element of the TO in NFL would be it would have to start with a Detroit or KC type team. The bottom dwellers. It would be fun to see Vick, Pat White, or Vince Young run this O.
