Airsoft guns are basically plastic BBs.

You can buy them over at Hodges Army Navy, mocked up to look like real assault weapons.
 
I have a $200 Airsoft sniper. It looks exactly like a K98 and even has ejecting shells. The BB's are only like $5.

I have a paintball Tipman 98 too. Can't afford paintballs / CO2 Refills, though...

Airsoft guns that are cheaply priced are cheaply made. The good ones, those are expensive. I personally play with nerf guns around my office, and those get the job done. I modded up my sniper to fire clear across the lab and hit coworkers at about 75 feet.
