Was watching College Gameday at 11 on ESPN today. At one point they were talking about their picks to win the ACC. Herbstreit and another dude picked us, while Holtz and some other guy picked FSU, one of them saying FSU over GT in the ACCCG. Herbstreit commented on our offensive firepower, and said he had been flip-flopping between us and VT, but now is thinking us. Anyway, just thought it was interesting that all the national media thinks VT will win the ACC again, and that they're a "dark horse" nat'l championship contender, yet not one of a panel of 4 experts picked them to win their conference.

Granted, no one knows anything yet. Just thought it was worth posting.

HURRY UP FOOTBALL SEASON, I CAN'T TAKE THIS MUCH LONGER

I have tried to keep this season's hopes in perspective, and not get too excited. I keep reminding myself that the O-line, D and special teams will have to not be glaring weaknesses. However, I look at CPJ's 2nd-year results at GSU and Navy and I can't help but get excited. Sure, we could lose 4-5 games, but any team could. If we do not have big injuries, I do not see this team having a less potent offense than Navy did in its second year. Navy scored a lot of points and I think GT's talent level will make up for more than any defensive talent increase compared to the teams Navy played. Other than maybe a few of the O-linemen (mainly b/c they are not the body-type ideal for this offense), this team's offense should be superior at most every position compared to the 2nd-year Navy team. But, let's take it one game at a time.

The other dude was Robert Griffin, former Buckeye and Minnesota Viking running back. It was good show... gotta love crazy Lou.

I love it when someone knows slightly more than the person they are trying to correct. Nice!!

My bad... I was reading an article on Archie Griffin while writing the post and mis-typed.

I have noticed that a lot of VT talk has just led to people jumping off the bandwagon for them. Is this because of the Darren Evans thing? Or do people realize that maybe they aren't THAT good?

A little of both, in that the loss of Darren Evans opened the eyes of people to the fact that they aren't THAT good.

Here's the thing, VT is the safe choice. They've been dominant in the coastal since they've been here, so they kind of get the national node pre-season. I think its going to come down to more us or UNC at this point.

Them losing all four of their RBs has got to hurt at least some.

They talked about another player named Robert Griffin, that's probably how you got it backwards.

Grandpa Lou is killin me. His rant about ND being a national title contender was amazing. I wish Mark May was on, because I think May is about ready to kill Holz on live TV.

Then, after talking up ND's chances to get blown out by Florida in the BCS title game, he criticized Penn States soft schedule. Go Lou!

VT will go as far as Tyrod and the D takes them. If TT improves, they could be tough, but he will need some help.

VT is oulling the same old trick they always have pulled this time with the other three RB. They act like normal bang ups are career threatening injuries and act like their top talent will be too hobbled to be worried about. They try to keep expectations low and also keep the other team guessing who is actually going to play.

Not sure if the question was answered but if I recall it's never predetermined unless it's like week 1 or 2...basically early season
