exactly! the ability to tailgate and suck back some cheap suds will easily pay for the price of parking.

this week shouldn't be that bad getting out of the game b/c of a few reasons.
1. less ppl than normal
2. due to the fact that we should be crushing them,ppl will be leaving throughout the game. ppl will also be leaving early to watch the uga game.
3. it's a day game. visibility will be better than leaving at night.
 
Thing is i'm a high school student so me and my buddy won't be doing much drinking so most of the negatives you listed don't effect me
 
I come from the west line to Five Points and then to North Ave. Met some really nice JSU fans last year on Marta and wished them luck. The highlight was hearing them talk about CPJ whooping up on FCS opponents back in the day and hopes he, "takes it easy on the boys from JSU."

I have taken Marta more often that I have driven. Marta is much less of a hassle and despite the negative aura --Marta does a pretty good job. I will say that I hate missing out on the tailgating and I may actually drive in for a couple of games this season.

If you 'have no idea what you are doing' then I believe Marta is your better option at this point --at least until you educate yourself a bit more on the parking situation. The important thing is that you're going!!

MARTA is cleaner, faster, nicer and emptier than almost every other subway system I've ever been on. If it went to more places it would be one of the best public transits in the country.
 
I remember this one time my brother told me about his professor telling how inefficient Marta was in many aspects. I think it had to do with the prices, but I could be wrong.

Sorry if it's sort of off topic, but I just felt like sharing this.
 
By far the worst thing MARTA does is make you scan out of the station. I don't understand why they need to do that when a city like NYC manages to get by without it. It makes leaving the stadium at a big stop like Philips a pain in the ass.

Well, the only other subway I've ever used is DC's, and it rocks MARTA's socks off.

i drink responsibly and i don't go alone, but i thank you for your concern. my house is in edgewood b/w little 5 and east atlanta, so if a cab is necessary, so be it.
 
I thought MARTA was very convenient when I was there for a year a while back. Make sure to check that they aren't working on the tracks. That really slows them down and they do it on the weelends.

Did Marta change to a variable rate? If it's a flat fee (like NYC's) then they shouldn't scan you out. It might be to get some data on where people get on and off to better service the ridership.

On the DC Metro, you get charged differently depending on where you get on and off, hence the need to be scanned out.
 
MARTA doesn't deserve this thread, and they certainly don't deserve your business.

Philly is the only other place I've seen scan out and they have variable rate by zones. MARTA is flat $1.75 anywhere so the only reason I could guess would be ridership data, but that's such an inefficient way to do it. Just hire some guy to use a damn clicker at different stations at different times. It would cost less and not waste our time.

Or do what NYC does and make you walk out a turnstile. Much easier than trying to get one of those RFID readers to pick up and then wait for the doors to open/close. And, fwiw, swipe >>> tap

That's because DC charges you different amounts based on where you get on/off and whether you switch trains or not. It also gives you a discounted bus rate after scanning out of a nearby metro station.
