I remember watching this kid last year and seeing potential, but holy crap, talk about putting it together. The touch on some of those throws was absolutely ridiculous. Imagine if he puts on 20 pounds or so of muscle on before his senior season... wow.

We are going to slaughter Miami. Heck, Miami scored a bunch of points on FSU last season with Nix at the OC helm.

Miami's offense does look improved from last year. That said FSU's defense looked very undisciplined and made me think our prospects in that game in Tallahassee are better. Miami's defense looked about the same however. Very athletic but not entirely sound. Susceptible to some well executed misdirection.

However I'm a bit worried about their offense vs our defense. Have to see us against Clemson to get a better idea.

Both UM and FSU are teams that like to stand back in the shotgun and take shots. Basically, they were playing mirror images of each other. Like one big ol' practice game.

We are gonna come in with a BETTER, more PHYSICAL QB than both (Nesbitt), better and faster running backs, and the best safety in the league reading Harris. We are going to punish them.

I think we are in for some Joe Hamilton-Ralph Friedgen era type of games in the next month. This is going to be a lot of fun... and a lot of ulcers.

Better to have ulcers than gouged out eyes (Chan ball).

The kid's got a lot of poise in the pocket but FSU's safeties had no clue what they were doing from first snap.

The kid was good but Ponder looked just as good. The highlight of the game was the goal line stand at the end.

Both offenses are above average but I think softer defenses look made them look better than they were. Does anyone on either team know how to cover a wide receiver? Morgan Burnett would have caught multiple interceptions.

Miami's defense was slightly injury prone (sometimes cramps).

I think we beat Miami in a close game but more importantly I now think we will not lose to FSU. My scariest game coming into the season. Still will be tough but their defense has taken a step back.

Am i the only one that is much more worried about going to the U of M.I.A. after that game? those guys looked pretty solid, even though the safety play from F$U was definately lackluster.... Its still undecided if both of those offenses were awesome or both those defenses were weak.. .i have a feeling that it was the former and not the later... UM's return man... #3 is scary.. kid is lightning quick.....i feel like we have been playin miami for a joke in the offseason and thats not what they showed tonite...... we MUST stick it to clemson thurs night to legitimize our team..... FSU also falls under the pretense of 'is it a good offense or were they playing a poor defense' but i still think that the o line played really well in that game for F$U.. ponder made some good plays but also threw away a touch in the 2nd when he way overthrew the post route and it got picked... I also believe that the officials should have been reviewing the time left on the clock instead of the catchable drop by #80.. the way I saw it, they should have had 1 sec left and been able to run a 4th and game play

Whipple is a huge improvement over Nix. The playcalling was excellent for Miami. I still think that Jacory makes some poor decisions and throws at times...Cooper runs very well...but overall a better offensive product than last year. The defense has always had the talent...just a matter of whether or not that play up to their level on any given night.

FSU...same as my comments on Miami on defense. Offensviely, Ponder displayed good QB play..WR's played a little better....being eligible helps the WR corps. I still think FSU abandons their run game too quickly...a FSU trait long before Jimbo. Still...FSU looked crisper offensively than last year.

Overall....this FSU/Miami matchup just looked sharper than most in recent years with slop all over the place.

I am very worried about both teams. There was a ton of speed on both sides of the ball for both teams. They both looked to be in mid-season form last night. If we play like we did this weekend we lose to both of them...

Mickey Andrews made himself look stupid in that game. Miami passed the ball about 75% of the time, but FSU responded by blitzing heavily. Miami responded by throwing a lot of quick outs and slants. FSU never readjusted. Both teams' secondaries also looked God awful.

Is this actually surprising for you? They've almost always been speedy teams. The issue is that they often use it in a way that screws them over. FSU's defense could've shut down Miami's running game but they over-pursued past the line of scrimmage, showed poor tackling and many a time a FSU defender was in a position to grab a runner but he was so focused on getting through the line that the runner just ran right by him.

As for this weekend, we clearly stopped caring after the first quarter and we won't do that against FSU or Miami unless we get a big halftime lead then blow it. We don't know what our team will really look like, cause we didn't see it last weekend.

I do know that both teams got better pressure to the QB than we showed on Saturday. Our DL will truly be tested the next few weeks.

That's probably because you could count on two hands the amount of times that the JSU did a traditional drop back pass. For the most part, JSU's passes were very quick hitting screens where the ball was out of the QB's hands very quickly. Harris and Ponder were taking smoke breaks because they were in their pocket's for so long.

Trust me Morgan, Hall and others would have been all over Ivory if he'd been dumb enough to hang out in the pocket. And the times when he did, I recall that Morgan WAS all over him.

So I don't see as how your comment correlates, but maybe I'm just dumb.

No, I didn't SEE the game, so maybe my statement was dumb. The DL has been my main concern on D this year, but I am only basing that on the losses at that position. Just seems that our pressure won't be as tough as last season, but anyone that saw the game please elaborate.
