You are a moron if you think that Groh and Gailey have nothing in common.
 
Gailey never said anything remotely as amusing as Groh does. Although, in Kyle's defense, there are some startlingly bad comparisons you can draw between Groh and Gailey.

Lost to Duke.
Decent NFL assistant, terrible head coach.
Mediocrity.
Having some good, but not great teams.
Started around the same time.

The only real differences I can see are signature wins and the lack of an AGE. Plus, we're not gay cowboys.
 
On the subject of Al Groh, me and some friends are going to make a sign for the Thurs game saying "Al Groh mus go, for all our sakes" in recognition of his spectacular, 7 lost turnover, defeat to William & Mary. Anyone with me?

In one way he makes the ACC look bad for losing to the likes of UVA and getting obliterated by USC. And then we look bad because we seem to lose to his team...

ahhh.. maybe you're right. Maybe we do need to support him getting fired since we have such bad luck against him (though I do anticipate a GT win this year)
 
for all this talk about Groh being a horrible coach he sure does kick our ass every year.

How can you call Gailey a "terrible" head coach? A decent coach, a fairly good, but not great coach, an OK coach, but terrible doesn't fit Gailey....Bill Lewis is an example of a decent NFL assistant and a terrible head coach, not Gailey.

you are right, they are both male, over the age of 40 and coach football

Yeah, I wouldn't call Chan a "terrible" head coach either. Yeah, I know you heard the excuses for years, but Chan had far more head-winds than Groh and still muddled through to some impressive victories. Groh is just a terrible coach.
 
All Groh ever did at UVA was have a couple of monster recruiting classes. Then all his top recruiting assistants left, and now he doesn't even get to underachieve anymore. The team just sucks.

Chan's issues were entirely different. He finally hired the right guys to recruit, but too little too late. He was too slow to enact change, and too hung up on trying to develop the underdog and overachiever.
 
In last year's Tech/UVA game, UVA had 396 total yards and we had 259. Nesbitt was our QB and played the whole game. Yes, we had three turnovers, but the Cavs also had three turnovers. They possessed the ball amost ten minutes more than we did. Can't blame penalties; we only had 2 for 15 yards. Our longest run play was 17 yards. Cavs went 29/39 passing and 9 different Cavs caught passes. We went 7/15 passing. This all happened on Grant Field.

I'd love to make fun of Groh and UVA some more but I'm gonna wait until we beat them.
