Anyone with Access to different boards know what the Thug U fans are thinking about next week? I know during to off season they were chomping at the bit to get back at us for the embarassment they endured. I guess I want confirmation that they are drinking their kool-aid and expecting us to blow up in Miami this year...

One guy on the public scUM board on Rivals.com posted that Jacory Harris would pick apart, or something to that effect, our secondary, after watching us against Clemson.

If they play like they did yesterday he will. I wouldn't take that as a given though.

I think if our D-line doesn't get pressure then he will pick us apart. I haven't seen much out of Harris to imply to me that he can make those kind of throws with pressure. The FSU game there was no pressure on either side. Also, there is no way our secondary plays as badly as they did yesterday.

So it all comes down to the D-Line improving enough to get consistent pressure.

FSU's secondary played like crap against Miami on Monday. Blown coverages and safeties letting Miami's receivers get past them on multiple occasions resulted in a few TDs for Miami. Our secondary played as bad yesterday if not worse as FSU's secondary against Miami during Clemson's almost comeback.

The team's goal for Miami needs to be... let our offense keep the ball with slow yet methodical drives down the field.

I was telling my friend this all through the game, but I am much more concerned about our offense than our defense. We CANNOT afford to get stymied on offense, and hope our defense can hold on. We need to get on the board consistently throughout the game, lest this game turn into another climpusn '06.

The team's goal needs to be to score more points. I don't care if they do that with 8 minute drives, or 34 second drives.

Put points on the board, and don't stop until the clock reads 0:00 in the 4th quarter.

Easier said than done. The offense can score points but the offense can't score more points alone without the defense helping them.

I see win-win situation with offenses that can score while running slow and methodical drives. It gives your defense time to rest up. It also keeps the other defense on the field.

If I were to choose between a team that can score in 5 seconds vs. a team that can score while keeping the other defense on the field for a while (and thereby controlling the clock), I would take the latter every single time. As fun as it may be to watch a big play offenses, I'd trade that in for a rested defense that is more likely to help the offense score more points.

Again, easier said than done. What is more likely? That our defense stopped before the clock read 0:00? Or our defense was exhausted because our offense had so many 3-and-outs with the ball?

Sorry, I guess maybe I'm still relatively new to this site and not everyone knows my posting style, but about 95% of what I post is tongue-in-cheek. I do not actually expect our offense to score on the first play every play. I also like the drives where we get 6~7 yards a play and methodically march it down the field. I'm just saying, a team that scores on it's first touch every possession would be pretty hard to beat, no? :)

Yep. I was hoping that is where our offense would be... sort of like against Miami last year and the 2nd half of the U(sic)GA game. Man, that would be awesome.
