Good enough to beat a pretty darned good Clemson team on a night our O wasn't really in good synch.

Good enough to gain over 400 yards offense when they're not clicking. (We were just 100 yards shy of what we put on Miami last November, which was 518).

Good enough to look a CU team in the eye who was forcing Nesbitt to beat them with his feet or his arm, and let him do it.

Good enough to have a completely worn out D make a 4th quarter stand to preserve the win.

Did I miss any?

The real answer is we don't know, and won't know for a few weeks. It's too early in the season to be able to make accurate assessments of the strength of any team.

As of right now, not very. We were fortunate to escape with two wins after two lackluster performances, and we'd better put it together by next Thursday. Yes, it was great to win, but that's not the type of win that wins you championships.

Any given time we snap the ball on offense, the play could either be a touchdown or a turnover, or something in between. The defense is also hot and cold.

I think it's safe to say that we are capable of winning or losing every game left on the schedule.

I have faith that we will win more than we lose from here on out.

Disagree. We beat one of the 3 best teams in the league Thursday.
Our D played their butts off and held Clem in the 4th.
Our guys responded at the end and took the game back.
We Won. We are the only team that is 2-0 right now.
Clemson will be ranked by the end of October.

Georgia Tech teams in the past would have lost that game Thursday night to Clemson. That game against Clemson had the GT-VT thursday night game from 2004 written all over it.

All of that is true, and none of it conflicts with what I said. It was a great win, but I think everyone knows that if we continue to play like that we won't be making an appearance in the ACCCG.

Again, it was a great win, but good teams have offenses which account for more than one touchdown and convert more than 3/14 third downs. We have the talent to be a very good team, but we need to put it together. The good news is that wins count as wins no matter how they are obtained, so if we come out and play like we can next Thursday, none of it matters.

Damn, if we have this much gnashing of teeth after starting 2-0 what is going to happen some year when we start out 1-1 or perish the thought 0-2?

Here's a thought. Why don't we string together a few 10 win seasons first before we get hypercritical about the style points of our wins?

We have exactly 1 (one) 10-win season since 1990. Another way of saying "since 1990" is "in the living memory of anybody playing on our football team". In that year (1998) the ACC was still "FSU and a bunch of schmucks". In that, our one shining year since 1990, we lost to FSU 34-7.

I know CPJ most likely isn't going to have a 1- or 2-win clunker in his first couple of years like several of our other coaches have had in the last 30 years but let's be realistic about the expectations and that'll make being a fan more enjoyable.

I understand what you are saying gt816f, but the fact that we had 400+ yards of O and a +6 ypc avg against that D tells me that we weren't nearly that bad.

If these stats continue and we continue to protect teh ball, we will win a bunch (10+) games this year. Not bad for a team with only 4 scholarship seniors.

I have to disagree here.. This is exactly the type of win that wins you championships. Examples include USCw, VPI, UGA, FSU... All of these teams have had similar wins in years in which they either won their conference or a national championship. The only difference is that at the time, they were considered the favorite to win said championships and therefore everyone gave them a pass on the fact that there was a game that maybe wasn't won in great style. If you don't win this game the chances of winning a championship begin to dwindle or disappear. Therefore, this type of win is essential to win championships in a year where you play 11 back to back games, most of which against quality opponents (Unlike USCw).

Good enough to win 8 games but too erratic in passing and pass def to do much better.AND too dependent on Nesbitt-he WILL get hurt then what happens when teams stuff Dwyer ?

We are real good. I wish we had our schedule in reverse order though. We'll get stronger as the season goes, but our schedule (aside from uga) gets weaker.

If we win the acc, can Josh raise his hands in victory?

Yes.

He can.

Not that he needs my permission, or that he cares.

Winning the ACC is a LOT harder than winning one game (even though winning one game is pretty tough).
