Isn't the Diesel overdue for a big game? I realize that opponents are keying on him as a defensive strategy and he played limited time against Jacksonville State, but it seems he will have to bust out soon. It wouldn't surprise me if he has a great night against UM.

Yes he is, but I think Anthony Allen and Roddy will have great performances Thursday. Dwyer is going to struggle for a while until the defenses realize we have other weapons. That adage of "we will stop Dwyer and make Allen beat us" will be shoved down their throats.

If people keep on keying on him at BB, then I think we should switch things up a bit and rotate him at A-back for a few plays. Keep the D off balanced.

Even with them loading up to him, I still think he can have a big game. He was inches away from busting a couple big ones on Clemson on several plays. We just need the O-line to step up.

If the offensive line can create some holes for him, he will do great. Until then, he will continue to only gain 2 - 3 yards a carry even though he has all the talent a coach could ask for in a RB.

And it sure wouldn't hurt if Nesbitt would get more consistent on some short routes to loosen things up either, on some plays it seemed like Clempsum had 15 men in the box!

When the OL simply cannot move the DT's and the DT's crash whatever gap Dwyer runs, it's pretty tough for the dive option to work. The Clemson game will be an outlier for Dwyer.

Agreed. I mean, it's not like he had a bad game against Clemson, even when he was considered to be "shut down." Add one great play to his Clemson performance and you're looking at a 120 yard, 1 td game, which is pretty damn good.

Speaking of which, it never seemed like Josh ever looked for the short route receivers except for two plays that I remember. One was an out route that Roddy actually dropped but could have been a 1st down. The other one was to Anthony that went about 15 or so yards after the catch.

All the long passes that he threw over the top, it didn't seem like he was supposed to even look at other receivers.

You can't blame teams for keying on Dwyer. Until Nesbitt consistently proves that the passing game can't be ignored, I'd approach every game the same way if I were the opponent's DC.

"Option the best, then block the rest." Words to live by.

That's exactly what I'd do. Until Nesbitt proves otherwise, he the lesser evil than Dywer.
Nesbitt is not going to stop being Nesbitt. CPJ will figure out how to use Josh without fundamentally changing Josh. By now CPJ has realized what cards he has and now he will have to play what he has been dealt---and he will. Somewhere I saw posted that Josh seems to throw better when he is on the move rather than set. Maybe we roll him out ala Shawn Jones. Remember we are only looking for 8 or nine completions out of 14 or 15 throws. And I wouldn't ever worry about the length of the throw as long as it was a completion for positive yardage---keeping the LB's and DB's (and DC) thinking about staying in coverage. CPJ will figure it out.

I'm worried UM will figure out that they need to key on Scott Blair! Special teams scored 14 points for us versus Clemson. Blair was responsible for 16!! Exclamation point! And we already know Speedy Scotty B can catch any returner from behind and make the saving tackalacka...

he got tripped up on one of our offensive linemen in the clemson game and was going to go for a HUGE gain or a TD. i remembered that he slapped the ball and was visibly pissed when this happened.

i rewound the dvr a few times to look at the hole and it was pretty much him one on one against the safety and we know how that usually ends up....
