SEC and the Jacket faithful

Hello Jacket fans,
We are all Jacket fans on here and I can't stand UGA, here is my question.
I love SEC ball, so as a Jacket fan who do we have ties with and who would most Jackets root for in the SEC.


Interested in getting your feedback as well as any other team a Jacket might root for. I know a lot of Big Blue UM Jacket fans.
 
Who to root for:

The Florida Gators. They hate FSU, they HATE Georgia, we have the series lead against them, we have more national championships (so far) than them...

No reason not to.

Who to NEVER root for:

The Georgia Bulldogs. For obvious reasons...

The Alabama Crimson Tide. The Dodd-Bryant rivalry was part of the reason for our leaving the SEC in the first place, and to this day they pay homage to us in their fight song. "...send those yellow jackets to a watery grave..."

The Auburn Tigers. Although we would go to the Auburn/UGA game in the past to root them on, this one got hairy towards the end and almost turned into another Florida/Georgia.

I'll go ahead and throw in the LSU Tigers too. We lost twice to them in the Peach Bowl to blowout numbers, and their fans are worse than Georgia fans (yes, I said it...)

Other teams to root for:
Look up the UGA football schedule... root for all of their opponents for any said year, regardless of any feelings for/against them.

Florida Gators, because Tim Tebow really is a good guy and Urban Meyer seems to be a pretty good guy too. Also the Georgia thing.
 
Very good points... Our enemies enemy is our friend. Don't we have some history with Florida as far as some coaches and what not.. Positive history?
 
Alternatively, maybe he has friends in Ohio who have large proportions and are rabid hockey fans?

Yeah, we Jackets have a good rivalry with Ole Auby and they decided not to play us there a few years back. I know we play them in the future too. I wished we played them every year too, they are almost as close to us as the Bullpups..
 
We used to have a serious rivalry with UT too. Dodd came from UT and he and Neiland didn't see eye to eye, as I understand it. And Dodd was about the easiest guy to get along with around.

We played them into the mid 80's and haven't played them since.

So I do not like the following SEC teams (in order):
1. UGAy
2. Bammer
3. Awbunn
4. L$U
5. UT
6 USC -east; if you can really consider them an SEC team...
 
I didn't grow up in Georgia, grew up in New Orleans as a Tulane fan (I know, a real masochist) so I hate LSU the most.

1. LSU
2. UGA

Rest I don't care about. More power to 'em if they succeed.
 
I root for UF and USC (only because Spurrier is there) big Spurrier fan.

And you can't help but root for the Gators who are represented by quite possibly the best in class College Football Player of all time (class act on and more importantly off the field)

Any then whoever is playing UGAy that day
 
Its hard for me to pull for many. My wife is a USC east grad, so I guess I pull for them some. I always liked LSU football a little more than the rest of the teams. Of course I hated them in 2000 and then again last year. I always like to see Tennessee successful. Bobby Dodd played there and so there's my GT connection.

My 2 favorite teams are Ga Tech, and whoever is playing UGA!

Dont tell my GF this , but I find myself pulling for Fla ALOT. Tebow is an all around good kid, they ALWAYS beat UGA, and Tebow is on my fantasy team and always puts up big numbers.

The ole ball coach's ole ball coach there was Ray Graves, long time asst under Dodd. D Coordinator I think. Frank Broyles/Arkansas was offense. I think that's right. Also, Bobby Dodd Jr. played at UF. WR, I beleive
