Allright, another idea. Let's assume we win out. Miami remains pretty good, and ends up in the top ten at either 11-1 or 10-2. Now we are 11-1 with our only loss being to Miami, early in the year on the road. Assuming we can't get to the ACCCG because of Miami having only one conference loss, how would the polls treat us?

So, you think we are going to win out? You need to actually get a grasp of your expectations.

If we had last year's DL, I'd say it could happen. But not only are we are small on the DL, we have lost Robert Hall for I don't know how long - at least for the UNC game. Teams are going to run on us. I have a feeling that the only reason the "wolf" position was created was to try to counter our lack of size with speed - which we apparently don't have a lot of either on D.

Wins and losses.

I misunderstood you and thought that you meant GT would wind up 9-5 (like 2006).

My apologies.

Its all good. It is a possible record but I doubt playing for the ACC comes with 5 losses (and it was not in the context of the question).

I was thinking the same situation as 2006 - 9-3 then two losses to finish in the bowl and ACCCG

Regardless, it's off topic :p

This was actually a question about how we would be ranked if we were 11-1 with only an early season loss to a top ten or 12 team. I have NO expectation that we will win out our even win 9 games. But. . . . last year, I thought we'd win four or five games. I was pleasantly surprised by our gutsy win in Boston, but then we faltered in Blacksburg. The problems seemed different last year, learning issues---but they got addressed. I guess what I am saying is let's see if CPJ can address them and make season out of this. I'd be overjoyed with 8-4 with quality wins against VPI and Georgia-but as of today I think that is iffy.

I think we have a much better chance against UNC than we had against UM. The defense will be comparably strong but we should have scored 20-30 points without the gross penalties and missed blocks.

UNCs offense is not nearly as strong as UMs. If we can get some pressure on Yates I think we have a chance.

Playing at home will help too.
