I agree that the only stats that matter are W/L stats.....

...but on the other side of the coin, Duke and Maryland also lost to Richmond, Middle Tennessee St and scraped by James Madison.

so they really DO suck, while nothing has been proven about us yet, since we beat a pretty decent team and lost to a pretty decent team

how decent each were nobody really knows yet

Clearly not the same team. They lost to an unranked Miami team. We lost to top-20 Miami. And now they're a top-10 team. I feel sorry for whoever they play next. They're a team that's getting exponentially better each week.

Either that or maybe everyone was right. Maybe preseason rankings really are useless...
