UNC Game Analysis

Deliriously! You really are a rich man's Yukonwreck!
Ya'll should have pity on me---just got in from the Bucs-Giants game.

My dad an uncle were at that game as well. I'm a bucs fan, but this year I'm ignoring pretty much. I've adopted the falcons since I've been at Tech so I'm just paying more attention to them this year.

...BOR, great analysis and good read.

Agree on many/most of your thoughts BOR. I thought the A-backs blocked a lot better yesterday. AA had a few key blocks to spring big runs...

This is the only important thing that needed to change for our Offense to work.

I think I was the only one in my section after a 7 yard run to the outside, yelling "Did you see those blocks!!?"

not to hi-jack the thread, but I have seen a lot of badk Bucs football since 1985, but today was the worst. Not a glimpse of anything to be hopeful for. One first down at the start of the fourth quarter.

I wasn't ecstatic but was kinda relieved that my preseason expectations weren't totally off.

To me we seem to be a little better than last year at this time but in a similar situation. The offense still looked a little off-kilter, but individual effort by Dwyer and Nesbitt compensated (just like it did last year at the beginning of the season.) And I am glad to see we have a defense again.

Altogether, I'd rather have a good defense than an offense that is clicking perfectly at this point. I have confidence the offense will continue to get better; I was worried the defense was just broken after the first few weeks.

Having said that, I am sure we have one or two more bad games to come this year and I hope we don't overreact and implode when that happens. But I guess that may be asking too much.

P.S.
I have a big chip on my shoulder about the reporting of the win on national media. It was all about how UNC wasn't as good as they thought rather than a return to form for GT.

VT seems to be the only ACC team getting the benefit of the doubt in media perception and a little respect. Sports Reporters talked about Bama being better than Florida because Florida hasn't shown much and the Bama win over VT is looking better every week.

Perhaps if we beat the MSU team that nearly (should have) upset LSU we can get a little credit?

A-back/WR perimeter blocking and pressure are the reasons we looked good yesterday.

I think that it would do little to nothing for us to beat MSU unless it was by some jaw-dropping manner, like 77-0 or some other score that would be rather outlandish.

Tech just needs to go out and win their games, nothing more. If Tech wins, everything will fall into place and we will end up in a BCS bowl, and a likely favorite next year. I think that All of the games are winnable, they just have to stay focused, and do not let them think too highly of themselves.

Man, they actually DID rip it off verbatim. I was just thinking it was CLOSE. Just to plead innocence, my name is Joe and it isn't me.

On defense:
Our four leading tacklers were defensive backs, but that said, I thought Jefferson was in on almost every play. He showed a lot. Rashad Reid seemed to be playing 3 positions at once. Morgan Burnett with the exceptioon of one play, played like an all american.
I loved the new look DLine. Logan Walls has found a home. The guy can play. He was all over the place. Ebiguniwe showed some promise. We still need to manufacture more pressure and I think we helped that by going to a 4-3 defense. Cross played some solid minutes and Barnes and Peters rotated in a lot. Walls is definitely the starter now though.
Our secondary was lights out yesterday. How we go from Miami to UNC in performance is incomprehendable to me. As I’ve said all year, Reid needs to be a regular starter on defense. Reid next to Morgan Burnett has the best instincts of any defensiveback I’ve seen at GT.
I will say this. I don’t think our new look defense was all that tested. For one, we held the ball on offense for 42 minutes and two, UNC’s offense is lethargic. So this is a nice effort from the defense, but really its not a great indicator to me how much they improved yesterday.
Going back to offense, no one has the blue print to our offense. UNC’s defense was pretty stout. I thought they tackled poorly, but PJ tends to make other teams do that.
The officiating yesterday as we all know was horrendous. Just how horrendous? It was the WORST I have seen since the GT/VT game last year. It was probably worse than that, but since we convincingly won, it doesn’t stick out as much. Had this been a close game and we lost, Swofford would be getting some much deserved heat from DRad. Just some of the penalties I saw.
On the non-holding call on Morgan in the 1st series, Ebiguniwe was also being held. In fact I saw him being held 2 more times throughout the game with non-calls. We got horse collared twice and one facemask that I never saw called. Not to mention the end of the 1st half. If the refs didn’t have an agenda, then they are completely incompetent. I don’t know what can be done about this but as fans with you tube and blog abilities, we need to point so much fun at the incompetency of ACC refs that Swofford takes notice.
Here is BOR's

I am in regards to most, but you can't fix stupid and I'm going to call out those idiots from time to time

You being one of them

FYI, I'll probably get more of a positive reaction from the masses on here than negative.

You're lumped in there with Kyle and Damarius as of now with your whole " I think I can kick for the team " idiotic rants

Again, GFY
