Mike Leach bans use of Twitter

This is interesting. I wouldn't have thought of Leach as the kind of guy who cared about having total control.

Leach is awesome. Sounds like something CPJ would do.

Twitter is for people like Ryan Seacrest and Tyra Banks. Get your f*** mined right elsewhere.

Personally I've gotten quite a bit of value out of twitter. But only when it comes to professional things.

No reason for me to read a football player's twitter...I'm not THAT interested in what they do on a daily basis.

Now if you want to update me on new software releases, cool code tutorials, tech conferences, creative startups, etc, let's talk.

Well, it is like the DoD, you do not want people unnecessarily spreading information that you would otherwise need to remain undisclosed.

so are phrases like "**** minds right"... why's everyone saying that anyway...

Because of the Miami player who used twitter to say some really ghetto phrase that no one could comprehend.

It was:

"gettin my mind rite For GT wit dis damn option shit fuck dat they better get their fuck mind rite cuz here we cum str8 up"

Ah yes, I think I remember that.

twitter is gay anyways

The ad where the girl is looking for her lost dog--then I guy Twitters the photo out to the world--then the dog is found and reunited with the kid---that makes sense. :laugher:

I would like to thank this thread for making me feel young again.

Twitter is one of the best sources of filterable information going right now.

You are obviously a GT grad, because I can't possibly think of two words that shouldn't be preceded by the word "cool".
Hilariously enough I'm actually not.

I had the opportunity to go out of high school and opted for the "easy" freshman year and transfer in later.

A few hundred cases of beer and countless skipped classes later I no longer had the grades to get into Tech.

So I studied(well, I finish in December) Computer Info Systems at State....turned out to be a blessing in disguise b/c not only is the CIS program here top 10 in the country, it is also less demanding than a degree at Tech and has allowed me to launch my own little software shop before I even graduated...in fact I am officially in the "green" as of the sale I made about 2 hours ago.

I second that.. I just don't see the over all concept!
To each their own
It's really one of those things you gotta actually do before you "get it". I would recommend anyone to try it(actually try it...like use it once a day) for 30 days and see what happens.

As I mentioned above I run a small software shop and some of the info I've found through Twitter has been absolutely indispensable for me and helped me more than anything else I can think of as far as strengthening my development and marketing skills.

I hear you and respect you. I'd also like to offer congrats on your success story.

For my personal needs (today) I just don't need it.. I know every resource out there is usable by a lot of folks but some people live off of Tweeter...
