And what RB's from UGA made an impact in the NFL recently?

We know about TD and Hearst, and Walker of course, but outside of those three, no one has done anything for UGA in the past 15 years.

Knowshon? I don't think he's shown much in the NFL yet.

What GT backs have done anything in the NFL in the past 15 years?

Not entirely my point. Just that UGA shouldn't even 'joke' with the tailback u comments lately.

And I think Choice has potential to be a better NFL back than NoShawn.

Unforgiven, I think you need to take your gold colored glasses off here, and I am not sure what your point is then? First you ask if UGAg could ever be called Tailback U. Then when shown the data that shows they have had successful tailbacks, especially in the 80s and then more recently with TD and Hearst. Your first question was have they had any good RB's since Walker, and they have 5 1st or 2nd rounders in last 20 years, not including TD, who was a 6th rounder.

I may agree with you on Choice better than NoShawn, but it is still early in their careers.

But to say our TB's since the 80s are better than UGAg's is a big stretch to me.

Damn, I hate defending UGag, but you have to include Terrell Davis, Rodney Hampton, Lars Tate, Garrison Hearst, Robert Edwards, Tim Worley, and Verron Haynes.

That being said, I have never heard UGAg called Tailback U. But they have had legit NFL players at RB.

Yep, definitely a lot of quality backs. I'd argue for Auburn over UGA though in terms of best backs in the SEC since around the Herschel era. Probably missing a couple but I think all these guys played or play in the NFL: James Brooks, Joe Cribbs, Tommie Agee, Bo, Brent Fullwood, James Joseph, Stacey Danley, James Bostic, Stephen Davis, Rudi Johnson, Cadillac, Ronnie Brown, Brandon Jacobs, Carl Stewart, Kenny Irons.

That Cadillac / Ronnie Brown / Brandon Jacobs backfield was ridiculous.

CDK, you make a great point...Auburn has had some great backs in last 20 years.

I think I have about 5 posts in this thread that say the past 10 years or so. And I wear my shades everywhere I go.

Uh I got to call you out on the Jasper Sanks, yes great for us Tech people but I don't think the necks will claim him as great.
They claim:
Herchel
Larence Tate
Tim Worley
Mack Strong
Terrel Davis
Garrison Hearst
Orlando Gary
Musa Smith
Knowshan

I think our guys have had better NFL careers.
Davis got a ring but so did Levins

I agree with the Auburn assessment. They have had several occasions where they had two or thrree good ones at the same time.

You are obviously EXTREMELY young and ignorant to suggest that GT is even in the running with UGA on this topic.

Here's four names that did more than any GT runningback in the pros: Hershel Walker, Rodney Hampton, Garrison Hearst, and Terrel Davis.

am I being completely homeristic thinking that Knowshon is the ONLY good RB they've had since Herschel?

Yes, in fact you are being a complete dumbass making this statement. Glad you kept it on the board than go run your mouth to your UGA buddies and looked stupid.

Go google search Rodney Hampton, Garrison Hearst, and Terrel Davis. All of which came out of UGA in a 4 year span years after Hershel left UGA.

Sooo..there's an article by the biggest UGAy homer on the AJC (they all are, but he's the biggest) where he implies that UGAy at some point in time was 'Tailback U'.....am I being completely homeristic thinking that Knowshon is the ONLY good RB they've had since Herschel? I've listed as many of the RB's I can remember for the past ten years or so for both teams.

Do you guys think that UGAy has been 'tailback u'? Personally I think just about every one of our guys was better than theirs.

Good Guys
Jonathan Dwyer
Tashard Choice
PJ Daniels
Tony Hollings
Joe Burns
Charlie Rogers

UGAg
Richard Samuel
Knowshon Moreno
Kregg Lumpkin
Thomas Brown
Musa Smith
Jasper Sanks

Garrison Hearst was good. Any Tony Hollings was good to us for 2 1/2 games, so nobody knows who he is.

Did Hershel do much in the pros? I thought he went to that other league first and then the NFL.

He dominated the USFL for 3 or 4 years. Then went to the Cowboys, made a few Pro Bowls then was traded to Minnesota for a rediculous number of draft picks and his career fell off.

for those who can remenber 1969.

UNC is the winner!! Not even close!

Looks to me like he lit it up..

Walker rushed for 5,562 yards in his UFL career. [9] His combined rushing numbers for the UFL and the NFL (13,787 yards) would place him 5th All-Time on the NFL's career rushing list. [10]
In 12 NFL seasons, Walker gained 8,225 rushing yards, 4,859 receiving yards, and 5,084 kickoff-return yards.[11] This gave him 18,168 total combined net yards, ranking him second among the NFL's all-time leaders in total yardage at the time of his retirement; as of the start of the 2007 NFL season, ten years after his retirement, he still ranks eighth.[12] He also scored 84 touchdowns: 61 rushing, 21 receiving and two kick off returns for touchdowns.[11] Walker is the only player to have 10,000+ yards from scrimmage and 5,000+ return yards (all of which were on kickoff returns). He is the only player to gain 4,000 yards three different ways: rushing, receiving, and kickoff returns. He is one of six players (Jim Brown, Lenny Moore, Marcus Allen, Marshall Faulk, and Thurman Thomas) to exceed 60 touchdowns rushing and 20 touchdowns receiving. Another NFL record he possesses is that he is the only player with a 90+ yard reception, 90+ yard run, and a 90+ yard kickoff return all in the same season (1994). He is also the only player to record an 84+ yard touchdown run and an 84+ yard touchdown reception, in the same game (December 14, 1986). That same day, he had 100 yards rushing and 100 yards receiving. Walker is currently ranked eighth all time in all-purpose yards with 18,168, despite spending his first three seasons in the USFL.

Let's see if his MMA record is this good!
I tell you I met the guy year's ago, many year's ago I was 7.
The guy can have anything he wants from the Dawg nation.

I know they don't have the numbers but Oklahoma State had Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders at the same damn time. How many schools had two future NFL Hall of Fame running backs simultaneously?

Well we had Everett Strupper and Joe Guyon... a looong time ago.

*shrug*

I am young, and forgot about those three guys till someone mentioned them. I was just starting to watch football when Hampton and Hearst were in the NFLs already, so my mind doesn't easily make the connection of those two back to UGA.

I'm sure my UGA friends would have laughed their ass off at me, but if you can't have discussion without occasionally saying something stupid then what's the point of talking at all?
