Cody Hawkins... Reggie Ball

Reggie would have been an All American Strong Safety.

True. Reggie is the tragedy of the Chan Gailey era. As much as I shudder to think of him playing QB, I feel worse for him and the opportunities he missed as a result of playing out of position.

Has he graduated yet?

If we can't have discussion on this board that is like sitting at your typical tailgate, why have Stingtalk?

The Housing department hereby bans your discussion because you mentioned tailgating. That is in appropriate ina forum where students may see you tailgating.

Yes and Gailey wasted a year of his career with that limited package they let him run.

And when CPJ came to GT he was quoted as saying something to the effect of: "When you have a QB who was not redshirted as a freshman, you expect him to know a little something about playing the position."

Not the exact quote but PJ was basically saying that Gailey didn't teach Josh anything about playing QB and wasted his redshirt. Just think about that for a minute. Nesbitt would have been a redshirt freshman last season and we would have two more years of him AFTER this season. Stupid stupid stupid.

He was trying to save his job. He almost pulled it off.

Sorry for getting people's panties in a wad. I'm not bashing Reggie. I'm glad he gave it his all at GT and I'm glad he spent four years here. My problem is with his coach who kept putting him in a no win situation. Reggie would have been an All American Strong Safety.

Taylor Bennett is a nice guy too, but he made a horrendous QB. That's not bashing that's a common belief. I blame the coach who put him in that situation. LA Tech found out the same thing shortly thereafter.

If we can't have discussion on this board that is like sitting at your typical tailgate, why have Stingtalk? Lets throw the name "The Hive" up at the top and post like we're all walking on eggshells trying not to offend someone.
:laugher::laugher: Goodness gracious.

This post is full of all kinds of win.:biggthumpup:

.

I feel bad for Reggie because of the heartbreaking losses under his watch (UGA '05 & '06, ACCCG, FSU '03, NCSU '06(?), etc..) that weren't entirely his fault, but I do not in any way feel bad for him for "opportunities he missed". He was the freaking starting QB for FOUR years - do you think he wanted it any differently? A starting D1 QB is about as good as it gets regarding opportunity.

I wanted to jump out of my seat and head to the sidelines to knock Nix upside the head after the interception in the endzone against NC State in 2005. PJ or Ball would have freakin' WALKED into the endzone. The NC State DL was spent. They couldn't hardly move. They were right in front of me during the TO. We called a timeout to set up a pass to Calvin (I told my buddy before the play "Crap, we're setting up a pass to Calvin")

I know I have rehashed this game on the boards many times, but that is when I was ABSOLUTELY done with that staff. I do kind of blame Reggie for not turning just before the play, giving Nix the middle finger salute, and handing it to PJ for the win.

Reggie probably made the best of a bad coaching situation. In 2002, it appeared that our QB's had no idea how to run an offense. The 2002 Wake game was just horrible. Like a nightmare of ineptitude.
