I haven't watched FSU this year, but judging from their record and who they are losing to, I'm surprised they are favored. Do they have a strong passing game? We haven't won at Dook, but this isn't the 90's either.

Yes...they have a very strong passing game. If we don't get pressure on Ponder (similar to how we didn't on Harris) then we will be eaten alive. They also mix in more option plays than most pro-set teams. But they don't line up in the power running formations a lot, but throw a lot of shotgun draw run plays at opposing defenses.
 
I think it is more of our recent history. We start to build some momentum and then we crash and burn.

I also think that is why we are underrated. If we are ranked <15 this game we get blown out. Being ranked in the 20s means we will probably play to the level of competition. If we are unranked we blow them out :)
 
Don't forget home field advantage, which is worth around 3 points. This game is close to a coin flip in the eyes of Vegas

After seeing them lose to BC I really didn't think of this game as an even match up. They did blow out BYU, but other than that they haven't looked too good.

I think our D will look better against FSU than it did against MSU though. MSU could not run up the middle, all their runs came outside the tackles. I think with FSU the main key will be the pressure on Ponder. If our DLine gets a good push then we'll be ok, however if we don't get much push until later then the dump screens, and long passes will be open all game...which isn't good (a la miami).

No. We got a little pressure on Yates, but not much. Most of his bad throws were just due to his having a bad day.
 
What so many of you are forgetting is that we just had to defend the 15th best (in total yardage) running back in all of college football. Dixon is a player. He is hard to bring down and makes some nice cuts. Florida State doesn't have any running back in the top 100.

I'm not worried about their run game so much. I think Dixon is a lot like Dwyer in that even if you play good defense he will break off big runs because he is that good.

That was apparent as Dixon bounced off first defenders MANY times. My concern is our Dline pressure to the QB against FSU. I don't think the run game for FSU will be a big concern for us.
