So a UGA fan in my office just walked by and told me that they need to can CMR, and offer CPJ a 3x higher salary to come save the cesspool. :laugher:

I've got a buddy at UGA and he called me yesterday to say that Athens is in turmoil and calling for Richt's head. I hate the colors he wears, but make no mistake: Richt is a good coach. He hasn't messed up nearly as bad enough to take a chance on someone else. Next year if he sucks, then sure. Fire him. Hell, if UGA wants to go into the dark ages go ahead! It'll make our upcoming 9-year streak even easier!

I have a co-worker who told me "that offense you guys have will rip through Georgia's defense all day long." He's counting Tech as an assured loss at this point. I know he's just PO'd at how they played Saturday, and things change in a month, but it's nice to hear this out of that crowd for a change.

Richt's problems are being exposed. He maybe a good coach, but his assistants are terrible. He needs to hire some better people and UGa will be a powerful SEC team again.

Does anyone else also think Richt is not a very skilled game day coach?

Come on, man, Richt is a genius on the sidelines! Remember that big huddle he called after we scored 23 straight points in the 3rd quarter? That was like Moses coming down from Mount Sinai to address the sinners. I was so inspired I briefly considered attending church the following day. And how about how he used to bench David Greene and put in Shockley to mix things up? That was brilliant, if you define "brilliant" as keeping a promise to a player's mother that you'd give them PT even when the best QB in school history is your starter and healthy as a horse. They didn't really NEED to beat Florida that year, and Shockley needed the experience. He also pioneered the greatest comeback in UGA history last year in the Bama game. The only way that comeback could possibly have been more impressive is if UGA had won the game, but winning isn't everything. Imagine how awesome the postgame prayer must have been in that game after that comeback near-victory! The guy is a master motivator. Sometimes he tells his players to cheat, and sometimes he gets angry with them when they cheat. He really keeps them on their toes! The guy is solid.

I've never been impressed with his game management. I've never been overly impressed with the way his team has played, except for the first two years when they began to play 4 quarters of football - which they didn't do in 2000. I have felt they tended to play up or down to opponents' strength. I've never been impressed with his slack treatment of his team's thuggish tendencies. I have been impressed with his recruiting, and with his ability to sweet-talk the media.

Bill Curry proved that a marginal coach can win the SEC with enough talent. He is a good coach, but not near the great coach he's been made out to be. There is no way his team should have lost that game to us last year. They had us down and out, he let them lose focus, and then their lack of discipline burst forth.

They are a bad team offensively and defensively, right now, with top 5 talent. They are running the same system they've run or 8 years, and they have a QB who's been in the system for 4 years. Whatever he's being paid, he's not earning it these days.

Richt is a good coach, and I think he's a good person too. That being said, he's a lousy head coach if he doesn't make changes and the OC and DC positions. If he doesn't get rid of them, then ugag will get rid of him.

Richt is a good coach. UGA just doesn't know what's good for them. If they had half a brain, they would keep that guy for a long long time.

i think a seizure of play-calling duties is in order for CMR...

Richt is a good coach, but not a great coach. They recruit top 10 talent every year yet rarely seem to crack the top 10. That's indicative of some deep-seeded problems that doesn't start with playcalling. You can recruit top 10 talent but it doesn't matter if you can't develop it...

That said, I agree that UGA doesn't know what's good for them and they probably couldn't do better than Richt for right now.

Yep, I agree. They need to give him a contract extension and do what it takes to keep his assistants. He DEFINATELY has them headed in the right direction. :p:bowdown::p
