Four priorities:

1) Turnover margin - +5, 22nd in NCAA FBS

2) Stop the Run - 83rd in NCAA in Yards per carry.

3) Penalties - Less than 50 yards per game, 47th in FBS

4) Win the Damn Game -

we need to stop the pass, too. We've got no coverage

Our pass D is a result of our Pass Rush. You can't expect the DB's to cover a player forever.

Yes but the problem is bigger than that. Our pass rush is so bad because our DT's don't get ANY penetration. Normally the DT's push the pocket in causing the QB to have to move to the outsides of the pocket, where the DE will clean it up.

However we are getting NO push from out DT's which is making Morgan and Egbuniwe have to run ALL the way around the pocket to get the QB from the other side. This gives the QB a TON of time.

To complicate matters worse, because our DT play is so bad, the LB's are cheating towards the LOS to help in run support and this is opening HUGE gaps in the middle of the field.

If we could get one DT playing quality football, then we'd solve most all of our defensive problems.

Some of our pass stats are skewed because we've played pretty good passing teams --Clempsen, Miami, FSU. We won two of those. I know we need to improve, but I don't care if we give up 350 passing if we win.

Midseason check on Josh's quest for 1000 rushing and 2000 passing.

passing 843--but his completion rate is inching up

rushing 503---net is hurt by some sacks and losses.

He is certainly capable of reaching the stated goals with some lesser defenses still to come. He is 12-5 as a starter.
