Bob Davies thinks that...

There is some validity to his comments. Our defense spends all spring and summer camp stopping our offense, which probably isn't the best thing for defensive success

Don't let reality get in the way of a good rant.....

His cohort asked him why Johnson called it the spread option. Davies' response was that he only did it to make it more "sexy" and that what the option should REALLY be called is the wishbone. Can a guy that used to be a head coach really be that stupid? That blatantly ignorant?

Maybe it was late and the bourbon had done's its job, but I could have sworn that late in the game, Bob Davies said " that if he were coaching again, he would use this CPJ's offense" If that is true, Bob Davies is a douche :D

It is one thing to say you don't like Bob Davie as an announcer. He gets on many peoples' nerves, as one can see from this board and others. To say that he doesn't respect CPJ is just plain bufoonery though. He might not call the offense what you like, but he adores it.

All this announcer talk makes my head hurt. I blame myself for being lame enough to open and read this crap.

Here's to just plain bufoonery !

Nope, he said it. He went on to say that you'd have to find an AD who would be willing to hire a coach who would run it. Then he said that Radokovich just wanted to win and that's why he went after Paul Johnson.

I'm not saying anyone doesn't respect someone. I just don't like being subjected to the ignorant ranting of an ex-coach whose job it is to know about things like our offense and not only presents wrong information, but actively dismisses the correct information in a seeming effort to make himself appear more knowledgable.

A douche? He might be delusional to think he might know enough football to install and run the CPJ offense, but he's not being a douche; he's paying CPJ a big compliment.

Honestly I like Bob Davies. He is a nice guy. Ignorant, but nice. He rarely badmouths teams and is usually very good natured and positive.

He isn't perfect (wishbone vs. flex bone), but he knows a heck lot more about our offense than most announcers. He was explaining the plays rather well. I will take Davies any day over the Raycom or CSS clowns. The other thing I like a lot about Davies is that he doesn't talk about the SEC the entire game. If it was one of the other queer ESPN announcers, they would have brought up the LSU vs. Forida game numerous times throughout the broadcast talking about SEC speed.

He might have been paying CPJ a compliment in a off-handed way, but seemingly he only mentioned this offense in a "positive" way when Bob Davies realized that GT had the game in hand. Just seemed hypocritical when he was downgrading our offense by calling the "sexy" version of the Wishbone earlier in the game. I still say Douche = Bob Davies.

What do you have against Lou Holtz?

What do you have against Lou Holtz?
He's kind of an idiot.

Seriously...take away his name and his lisp, maybe even read a transcript of some of his broadcasts so you don't get blinded by his Holztness.

The stuff(words, not spit) that comes out of his mouth baffles me sometimes.

He is the Bobby Bowden of talking heads.

Davies also calls the Mid line option the quarterback duck.

hahahah I had too much fun with this one.

He was like, "You will see this play a lot tonight, it's called the uh............quarterback duck."

I'm all for Nesbitt having his own play name - but that guy sounded like an idiot on our game. I felt like he was not prepared as an announcer. He didn't know two things about Georgia Tech football....

Actually he was correct on that one. It is often referred to as the duck when the QB decides to keep the ball on the mid line option. It's a colloquialism.

A lot of people tend to forget that CPJ started off as a defensive coach; I trust him to make the right decision. We should be lucky PJ has defensive roots, as , IIRC, he developed the flexbone-based spread option, because he felt the wishbone was by far the most difficult scheme to defend.

Bob Davie (note no "s"), like all color commentators, does have his share of inane comments, but I actually think he's rather fond of GT, or at least our scheme. The whole 4th quarter was an option love fest if any of you guys were paying attention, and Davie has been quoted that if he ever returned to coaching, he would run an offensive scheme like ours in a heartbeat.
